Married ca 1790 to Sarah LNU, born 1778 maybe Augusta Co. Va. Thomas was in 1790 Augusta Taxlist. 1800 Augusta census, 1810 Augusta Va. Census. 1820 Montgomery Co. Census. Children seem to have been born in Augusta Co., but their marriages were recorded in Montgomery, Co. Va. George Dean & Anna Askins, d/o Thomas Askins 16 Feb. 1828 Montgomery County Jesse Pepper & Frances H. Askins, d/o Thomas Askins 03 Dec. 1838 Montgomery County Francis Turner & Sarah Askins, d/o Thomas Askins 12 July 1836 Montgomery County John Cofer and Abigial Askins, d/o Thomas Askins date not given. George C. Askins, s/o Thomas Askins 5 Nov 1834 to Eliza Muirhead, parents unknown. Was of age when married. The above George C. Askins is my G/G/Grandfather, he moved his family to Raleigh Co. Va. then later to Boone County, WV where he died in 1875. There is a Will recorded to John Askins in Augusta County, Va. and John bequeaths twenty acres of his land to Darby or Darky Holbert. No further mention of her. Balance of his land to his brother Philip (Philimon) oldest son (name not mentioned), but I wonder if this wasn't Thomas Askins? In Montgomery County, Va. marriage Bonds, Thomas is listed as surety for the following marriage bonds for the Holbert girls. Pulaski County, Va.Early Adventures on the Western Waters Vol # II. 1819 June 29 marriage Samuel Coffee & Abigal Holbert sur. Thomas Askins 1819 Oct. 18 Marriage John Myers & Darcus Holbert, sur. Thomas Askins. I don't know the connection, but it may place Thomas and John Askins in a closer light? 1850 US Census Virginia Pulaski District 48: 542 565 Thomas Askins 83 M Farmer. Sally 72 F. Lumma 09 fe. went to school during year. This was Lumma Pepper, a granddaughter. Death Records-Pulaski County, Virginia 1853-1870, Victoria Glynn page 53 entree # 41 Sarah Askins white female age unknown birth place unknown died 18 Dec. 1861 in Pulaski Consort: Thomas Askins Informant: John Cofer- Son in Law Any and all help on the above will be deeply appreciated.
