Funeral 11 a.m. Monday at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons. Visitation Sunday, 2 until 4 p.m. - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- FARRIER, Rosalinda St. Clair, 91, of 802 Clover Hollow Road in Newport died peacefully at her home in the loving care of her family after an extended illness on Friday evening, December 15, 2000. Born in Tazewell on December 20, 1908, she was a daughter of the late Glenn Moore and Julia Pendleton St. Claire. She began a career in public education, teaching at Newport School in 1938, and retired in 1971. For over 60 years she was an active member of the Newport-Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, was active in the Newport Fair activities and with the Newport Womans Club. Her husband, Frank G. "Bill" Farrier, Sr., and a sister, Pauline Wilson preceded her in death. Surviving are her two sons, Frank G. Farrier, Sr., and Martin P. Farrier, III, both of Newport; and a daughter, Linda F. Daugherty of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Genny Grogan Farrier, Frank G. "Billy" Farrier, III, and wife, Lisha Nicole and Martin P. Farrier, IV; one great-grandchild, Lola Grace Farrier; three sisters, Julia Atkins of Tazewell, Jacqueline Brown of Manassas, and Glenn Miller of Genevea, Illinois. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Newport-Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Newport with the Rev. Randall Blakenship and the Rev. Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. He was born in Snowville, Va. on Octber 4, 1909, a son of the late Burleigh R. and Lydia Hylton Hall. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Glada Boyd Hall. He was a retired millwright with Hercules, a self employed contractor, a member of the Radford Christian Church Disciples of Christ, a 50 year member of the Va. May Masonic Lodge #38 A.F. & A.M., the Scottish Rites Bodies, and the Kazim Shrine Temple, and Va. May Chapter #92, Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Richard Arndt of Blacksburg, Charlotte and Harold Rhodes of Disputanta, Va.; one son and daughter-in-law, R.C. and Diane Hall, Jr. of Richmond; two brothers, John W. Hall and B. Richard Hall, both of Hiwassee; three sisters, Oneva Brown and Joretta Lawrence, both of Salem, Gypsie Farmer of Dublin; eight grandchildren, Edward K. Smith, Terri Anderson, Alan Dale Smith, Tara Rhodes Burgess, Wendi Rhodes Black, Ashley Boyd Rhodes, David Robertson Hall, Steven Randolph Hall; seven great-grandchildren, Shannon McQuade, Tori Anderson, Jared Peyton, Matthew Burgess, Molly Boyd Black, Tracy Alwine, Benjamin Alwine. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 18, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the Radford Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Radford, with the Rev. Dennis Martin officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery in Radford where members of Va. May Masonic Lodge #38 A.F. & A.M. will conduct Masonic last rites. Leaving behind her beloved husband of 51 years, Marvin Ray Roop; sons and daughters-in-law, Roy E. Dowdy, Jimmie R. and Teresa Roop, all of Christiansburg, Larry W. and Sharon Roop of Radford, Jerry L. and Cathy Roop of Mt. Airy, N.C. and Jackie L. Roop of Christiansburg. Also surviving are two sisters, Martha and her husband, A. J. Martin, Nancy Wood and friend, Wayne Carol, all of Christiansburg; eight grandchildren; all her special friends at Comfort Inn of Radford; her special little dog, Misty; and one very special friend, Linda Henderson of New Castle. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one half sister, Mary Lou Saunders and a foster child, Rita Bradbury. Born March 13, 1910, in Williamson, W.Va., he was the son of the late Nellie Jackson Akers Wingo and Charles Edward Wingo. Mr. Wingo was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Vaughan Wingo. He was a life long member of the Thorn Spring Untied Methodist and had retired from the Pulaski Vance Company where he was a friendly face for many years. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Charles A. and Betty I. Wingo of Rural Retreat; four grandchildren, Charles Andrew Wingo and Wendy Sheffey of Wytheville, Rosemary Wingo of Max Meadows, and Darren Wingo of Rural Retreat; six great-grandchildren; Trudie Walke of Max Meadows, Thomas A. She was born in Wythe County, Va., on June 15, 1901, the youngest daughter of the late Gordon Robert Lindamood and Kate C. Lindamood. She was a member of the Cedar Hill United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Stuart Jones; her daughter, Rachel Ann Jones Johnson; her son-in-law, William E. Johnson, Jr.; a sister, Loretta Lindamood Jones; her brothers, Gardner Cassell Lindamood, Stephen Lindamood, and Lewis Walker Lindamood. She is survived by her daughter, Addie Kathleen Jones of Wytheville; a niece and husband, Loretta Lindamood and Kenneth S. Hicks, Jr., of Salem; two nephews and wives, Bernard Madison (Jim) and Vangie Lindamood of Golden, Colorado, and Douglas Miller and Bonnie Mabe Lindamood of Blue Ridge; three stepdaughters, Florene J. Wade of Wytheville, Ethel J. Shelton of Vienna, and Evelyn J. Smith of Bennetsville, S.C.; two stepsons, Albert L. Jones, and George K. The daughter of the late Nathan and Grace Correll Basham, she was the widow of David P. Holcomb and was also preceded in death by a sister, Esthma B. Collings. Surviving are a sister, Frances B. Townley of Salem; a niece, Peggy A. Radike and husband, Paul Radike; three great-nieces, Townley Aide Hamilton, Martha and Alexandra Radike, all of Roanoke. She attended schools; Radford University, University of Virginia and Richmond Professional Institute. She began her teaching career in Montgomery County and also taught in Prince William County, Occoquan, and Fairfax County, Herndon, Va. She was retired from the City of Richmond Schools after twenty years. Mrs. Holcomb was a past member of the Colonel William Christian Chapter of the D.A.R., the Hamilton D. Wade Chapter of the U.D.C., Christiansburg, Va., the Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, and a member of Salem Baptist Church. Graveside services Monday, December 18, 2000 at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Burial Park officiated by Pastor Everett Kier, Jr. of the Salem Baptist Church. He was a charter member of the Grandview Heights Church of the Nazarene. Hartman and Jack L. Hartman, Sr., Sandra S. and Homer Duff, all of Roanoke; six grandchildren, Dinitia Hartman, Roanoke, Jack Hartman, Jr., Roanoke, Kevin Hartman, Roanoke, Tammy Love, Salem, Bill Duff, Roanoke and Beth Duff Stanley, Roanoke; six great-grandchildren; and two twin great-grandchildren expected; her sister, Emily Tinsley, Vinton; two sisters-in-law, Iris Roop and Mary Roop, both of Roanoke; several nieces and nephews also survive.
