He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Atkinson and his father, Clyde Atkinson. He is survived by his mother, Edna Bishop Atkinson of Christiansburg; brother and sister-in-law, William and Kitty Rae Atkinson of Maryland; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Diana Atkinson; grandsons, Drew and Jared, all of Christiansburg. The funeral service will be held Monday, February 26, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the Horne Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Max Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Horne Funeral Service. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- BLANKENSHIP, James Daniel, 63, of 1830 Wolf Creek Road, Narrows, died Saturday, February 24, 2001 in the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born October 9, 1937 and was the son of the late James Rufus and Loutishue Mullins Blankenship. He is survived by his wife, Mae Sue Perdue Blankenship, Narrows, two sons, Duane L. Blankenship, Narrows, Greg Blankenship, Rich Creek; two sisters, Lula Fleeman, Narrows, Frances Stanke, Newport and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2001 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows, with the Rev. J. D. Clark officiating. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Nora Viars. Survivors include her husband, Harmon (PeeWee) Mills of Radford, several nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- MOLL, Dr. Anthony Theodoor, 85, of 246 Cook Lane in Newport, died Tuesday, February 20, 2001 in Santos, Brazil while on a cruise. Born in Canton, China on July 28, 1925 he was a son of the late Jacob T. and Elizabeth Sontman Moll of The Netherlands. He practiced ophthalmology in The Netherlands, Surinam, and Saudi Arabia before settling in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia for 23 years of practice. He was a developer of eye disease prevention in Surinam and Saudi Arabia and was a strong proponent of nutritional health during his practice in Hampton. For many years he was a member of The Rotary Club and for the last 22 years had been active in farming and community affairs in Giles County. Surviving are his wife, Dr. Gertrude Zoutewelle Moll; two sons, "Rick" Richard Moll of Akron, Ohio, Jacob Moll of Martinsville; a daughter, Maria Moll of Manheim, Pa.; one brother, Hector Moll of Heilo, The Netherlands; and seven grandchildren. The family will gather to celebrate their rich and warm memories and receive friends Sunday, March 4, 2001 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke. Fairfax Dr., Suite 100 in Arlington, Va. 22203. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- NEICE, Mabel Francis, (Sweetie), 59, of 1503 Pinewood Dr., Pearisburg, died Sunday morning, February 25, 2001 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born June 3, 1941 in Giles County, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and India Williams Lang. She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Neice, brothers, Willie and Lacy and sisters, Libbey and Shirley. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd Allen and Brenda Neice of Pearisburg; three daughters, Debbie N. Cumbee and Clara Ann Neice, both of Pearisburg and Connie Jean Neice of Pembroke; four brothers, Sammy Lang of Radford, Buck Lang of Christiansburg, James Lang of Ohio, Tommy Lang of Florida; four sisters, Judy Lang, Thelma Collins Norma Neice, all of Pembroke and Bertha Ratcliffe of New Castle; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Allen Welborn officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Fred A. Reed. She is survives by her sons and daughters-in-law, Denny Reed, Mount, Tenn., Rick and Sharon Reed of Christiansburg, David and Becky Reed of Chickasha, Okla.; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Doug Robinson of Blacksburg. Clarence C., (Carl), passed away Sunday, February 25, 2001 at his home in Blacksburg, Va. Captain Tyndall was born in Roseboro, N.C. He graduated from Goldsboro (N.C.) High School in 1973. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Goldsboro, where he was a member of Boy Scout Troop 6 and was a member of The Order of the Arrow. He was recognized in Who's Who in American High Schools and in Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges. He graduated in 1977 from Pfeiffer College in North Carolina. He taught in Goldsboro City Schools prior to entering the U.S. Air Force Officers Training School in 1980. During his years of service he was stationed at Kelly AFB, Texas, Keesler AFB, Miss., Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, Nev., Columbus AFB, Miss., Dougway Proving Grounds, Utah and Kirtland AFB, New Mexico. While in the Air Force he received the following awards, Air Force Cemmendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon and Basic Missile Badge. He received an MBA from Webster University in 1988. He performed volunteer service for New River Valley Hospice in Christiansburg, Va. Capt. Tyndall is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Jones Tyndall (formerly of Spartanburg, S.C.); three daughters, Patricia Leigh, Valerie Elaine and Laura Katherine, all of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; also his parents, Odell and Frances Tyndall of Goldsboro, N.C.; two sisters, Rebecca Anne Tyndall of Goldsboro and Karen Tyndall Parsons of Peachtree City, Ga.; one brother, Kenneth Robert Tyndall of Wake Forest, N.C.; five nieces and one nephew. Bill worked at Willis Elementary School and was a big fan of old time music, especially Rafe Brady. He will be greatly missed for his love, his caring and kindness. He will be especially missed by his beloved dog, "Chow" and his great friends, Stan and Debbie Coley. Survivors include his wife, Jo Anne H. Via of Floyd; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Jr. and Tina Hamlin of Christiansburg; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Jerry Martin of Pulaski; brother and sister-in-law, Lane and Eva Via of Floyd; grandchildren, Michael, Kevin, Devin, Chealsea Ann and Joseph; and numerous nieces and nephews.
