    3. New River Obituaries ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- GRAY, Jeannie Marie, 49, of Copper Hill, passed away Monday, February 19, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Gary Gray of Copper Hill, Va.; two children, Katie Gray and Zac Gray, both of Copper Hill, Va.; parents, William and Grace Garmer of Ellicott City, Md.; brothers and sisters, Bob Garmer of Oklahoma, Bill Garmer of Maryland, Don Garmer of Virginia, Jack Garmer of Pennsylvania, Terry Green of Pennsylvania and Carolyn Rowe of Maryland. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2001 at Gardner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Restvale Cemetery. Friends may call after 12 noon Tuesday at Gardner Funeral Home where the family will be from 7 until 9 p.m. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- KING, Mildred Ann, 85, of Shawsville, died Sunday, February 18, 2001 in a Roanoke hospital. She was born June 3, 1915 in Montgomery County, Virginia, a daughter of the late George Landon King and Anna Blanche Henesley King. Miss King was a retired educator with Montgomery County Schools. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Smith. Surviving are two brothers, Charles Clinton King, Smith Mountain Lake, G. W. King, Shawsville; and three sisters, Margaret Mullins, Phyllis Pettit, both of Baltimore, Md. and Hilda Mae Hicks of Portland, Oregon; also numerous nieces, nephews and a special friend, Verna S. Pearman with whom she taught for many years. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, February 22, 2001, at 1 p.m. in the Shawsville White Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerri Bishop and Rev. James A. Angle officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the White Memorial United Methodist Church or the Shawsville Rescue Squad. Arrangements are being handled by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- WHITLOW, Henry W., 85, of Floyd, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2001 at Friendship Manor Nursing Home. He was retired from VDOT. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Margaret H. Whitlow of Floyd; son and daughter-in-law, William (Bill) and Marcella Whitlow of Roanoke; daughter and son-in-law, Ann W. and Cecil Gillespie of Roanoke; granddaughter and husband, Debra W. and Stephen Hickey of Roanoke; grandson and wife, William C. and Kai Gillespie of Simi Valley, Calif.; great-granddaughter, Stephanie Mitchell of Roanoke; great-grandson, Brandon Gillespie of Simi Valley, Calif.; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2001 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Nuckolls officiating. Burial will follow in Topeco Cemetery. Friends may call at the Maberry Funeral Home Tuesday where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. While flowers would be appreciated, the family asks that memorials be made to Falling Branch United Methodist Church, 109 Falling Branch Road, Floyd, Va. 24091.
