Arrangements by DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- COUCH, Bonnie Hannah, 85, of Newport, died Wednesday afternoon, January 31, 2001 in Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg. Born on September 27, 1915 in Ft. Blackmore, Scott Co., Va., she was a daughter of the late Pumroy and Flora Starnes Salling. She was preceded in death by her husband, Farley P. Couch and a son, Billy J. Couch. Surviving are her daughters, Glenda and husband, Graydon Shrader, Brenda Smith, and Linda and husband, Caryie Caldwell, all of Newport; her daughter-in-law, Jean Couch of Richmond; her brothers, Floyd Salling of Kingsport, Tenn. and Bartley Salling of Ft. Blackmore, Va.; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 3, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow Street in Pembroke. Vest & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- JORDAN, Kenneth Paul, 92, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, February 1, 2001 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born in Tappan, New York on December 28, 1908 to the late Fred K. and Beulah Umlauf Jordan. Kenneth worked in the New York Stock Exchange prior to the crash of 1929. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the 29TH Infantry Division of the U.S. Army and participated in D-Day invasions and the Battle of the Bulge. He was the owner of Kenneth Jordan Insurance Agency in Tenafly, New Jersey and a charter member of the Tenafly Rotary Club. Kenneth retired to Blacksburg and was a member of the Blacksburg Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Virginia B. Jordan of Blacksburg. Memorial service will be conducted Sunday, February 4, 2001 at 4 p.m. in the Prayer Room of Blacksburg Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Alex Evans officiating. Mr. Staley was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be remembered as a man of strength. Many will be reminded of him when they see signs he painted during his 35 years as owner and operator of Staley Signs. He used his business to support not only his family, but also his community by volunteering his skills to letter the units of the Wythe County and Rural Retreat Squads. Those who knew him as a musician will remember his ability to bring rhythm to the dance floor and smiles to the crowd. He showed a passion for music from his first days as a steel guitarist to his final performances with the band "Footloose", whose members encouraged him to continue to make music in the face of challenge. He was also a member of Corinth Lutheran Church. His gifts of artistic talent, infectious laughter, and quiet generosity made him an asset to the lives of those he touched. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Cecile Copenhaver Staley. He is survived by his wife, Loe Jean Wright Staley of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ava and Eddie Creger, Joan and "Butch" Quinn, all of Rural Retreat, Va.; four granddaughters and spouse, Julie Creger of Winston-Salem, N.C., Kelly Ann Creger of Roanoke, Va., Brook and "Dubbs" Reynolds of Max Meadows, Va. and Emily Quinn of Rural Retreat, Va.; one stepgreat-grandson also survives. He was born in Giles County on April 15, 1936 and was the son of the late Shular Muncy and Nana Jane Shrader Millirons. He was a heavy equipment operator on construction. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Wesley Millirons. He is survived by his wife, Anne W. Millirons, Titusville, Fla.; a son, Charlton Hostetler, Columbia, Md.; a brother, Gerald Millirons, Pearisburg; three sisters, Carrie M. Pauley, Bland, Shelby M. Copeland and Emily M. Lambert, both of Narrows. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 4, 2001 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with Frank Horn, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in the Millirons Family Cemetery on Wolf Creek near Narrows.
