Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- DUNCAN, Charlie Wilson, 87, of Blacksburg, died Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at Richfield Nursing Center, Salem. He was born in Montgomery County on March 2, 1913 to the late Winston and Martha Isabell Allen Duncan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Virginia Caldwell Duncan. He is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and Miles Quesenberry of Salem, Isabell and Clyde Pendleton of Christiansburg and Shelvy and Dennis Moore of Blacksburg; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sarah Alice Martin of Pulaski and Nellie Slusser of Blacksburg. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, February 17, 2001 at 11 a.m. in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. He was a retired employee of Communication Workers of America, veteran of the U.S. Marines, World War II. Surviving are his wife, Ruth C. Pedigo; three sons, Lynn Pedigo, Los Angeles, Calif., Michael and Bill Pedigo, Pulaski, Va.; and one daughter, Patricia Williamson, Hiwassee, Va.; two stepdaughters, Tricia Brady and Sue Whitehurst; three grandchildren; brothers, Frank, Thomas, Kenneth and Dexter Pedigo; sisters, Hallie Brown and Evelyn P. Surviving are a brother, Carl Sutphin, and two sisters, Ethel Fizer and Sallie Duncan, all of Christiansburg, along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 17, 2001 at 11 a.m. from the DeVilbiss Funeral Chapel with Rev. Randy Woolwine officiating. Interment will follow in the family cemetery in Montgomery County. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2001 at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- VANDENBERG, Virginia Henkel, (Hink), of Blacksburg, Virginia, died on Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at Blacksburg, Virginia. Mrs. Vandenberg was born June 21, 1917, in Opportunity, Washington. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Carrol G. Henkel and Carrie Hess Henkel of Martinsburg, West Virginia. Virginia was the sister of the late Carrol H. Henkel of Winchester, Virginia, and the late Elizabeth Henkel Rafferty of Baltimore, Maryland. Virginia grew up in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Mrs. Vandenberg is survived by her two sons, D. Craig Vandenberg and his wife, Catherine, of Midland, Michigan, and Roger A. Vandenberg and his wife, Susan, of Barrington, Rhode Island. Virginia is also survived by four grandchildren, Amy, Marc, Laurie, and Douglas Vandenberg. At her request, Virginia has donated her body to the State of Virginia for medical purposes. Since there will be no service, memorials, if so desired, may be made to the Warm Hearth Foundation of Blacksburg, Virginia 24060. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- WILLIAMS, Daisy Nelson, 95, of Wilderness Road, Newbern, Va., died Wednesday morning, February 14, 2001, in the Sunbridge Nursing Home, Dublin. She was born in Pulaski County on December 5, 1905, and was the daughter of the late Charles Kennedy and Mary Carper Nelson. She was the oldest of eleven children. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John W. Williams of Newbern. She was Methodist by faith and was a charter member of the Eastern Star, Dublin, a member of the New River Historical Society, and was a retired teacher having taught 35 years in Botetourt and Pulaski Counties. She was a graduate of Radford College. Surviving are her children and spouses, Ruth Evelyn W. Hardy (Mrs. C. D.), Newbern, Va., David and Judy Williams, Conway, S.C., Duane and Ann Williams, Roanoke, Va., Nancy W. and Lewis Akers, Newbern, Va.; grandchildren and spouses, Samuel D. and Cathy Williams, Atlantic Beach, N.C., Sarah Williams, Springfield, Va., Suzanne W. and Eddie Bowles, Troutville, Va., Emily W. and Mike Ruesch, Springfield, Va.; great-grandchildren, Jamie, Jessica and John Bowles, Jacob D. Williams, Parker Mills; sisters, Hazel N. Dickerson, Clearwater, Fla., Beveridge N. Whitlock, Houston, Texas; brother, Ralph M. Nelson, Houston, Texas; several nieces and nephews; a very special friend and caregiver, Penny Tinsley. A graveside service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from the Newbern Cemetery with Rev. Tal Stanley officiating. Visiting was held Thursday evening at Stevens Funeral Home where the family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. An Order of the Eastern Star Service was held following visitation at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the Wilderness Road Regional Museum, P.O.
