She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Agee. Mrs. Hylton is survived by her husband, Hanford Hylton, Floyd; granddaughter and husband, Wanda R. and Wayne Rakes, Woolwine; great-granddaughter, Kerri M. A lifelong resident of Giles County, she was born on October 29, 1938 and was the daughter of the late John E. Hopkins, Jr. and Lora Chambers. She was a graduate of Narrows High School, Class of 1957. She is survived by her husband, Thomas W. McDaniel of Narrows; a son and his wife, Wayne and Joy McDaniel of Great Falls, Mont.; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Tim Dowdy of Narrows; grandchildren, Kirt and Jacob Lewis of Narrows, Seth McDaniel of Great Falls, Mont.; a brother, John E. Hopkins, III; sisters, Peggy Irvin, Rebecca Lester, Mary Brown, Sandra Bowden; half sister, Peggy Jean Hopkins; sister-in-law, Betty Ferguson; close friends, Ruby White, Jane Lafon; several nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law who loved her dearly. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 12, 2001, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Kim Jones and the Rev. Chris Michael officiating. Friends may visit with the family at Riffe's in Narrows on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- MONTGOMERY, Jesse Carl, 94, of 2009 Lee Highway, Pulaski, passed away early Friday morning, February 9, 2001, at the Pulaski Community Hospital. Born April 1, 1906 in Franklin County, Va., he was the son of the late Thomas Franklin Montgomery and Sallie Bowman Montgomery. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Pulaski and a veteran of the United States Navy. Surviving are his wife, Anne Morgan Montgomery, Pulaski; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Thomas and Margaret Montgomery, Severna Park, Md.; and sister, Bernice Hoy, Callaway. A graveside service will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, with the Rev. David Coffey and a nephew, the Rev. Robert Montgomery officiating. Full military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the Pulaski VFW Post #1184. The family will receive friends at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be sent to the Presbyterian Children's Home, P. O. Box 545, Wytheville, Va. 24382. Mr. Shepherd is survived by his parents, James S. and Marie A. Shepherd, of Ironto; six brothers, Hobert Shepherd and wife Betty, Vinton, Hubert Shepherd, Elliston, David Shepherd, Christiansburg, Joe Shepherd and wife Tina, Salem, Timmy Shepherd and wife Teresa, Shawsville, Tommy Shepherd and wife Kim, Flatwoods; six sisters, Bertha Worth, Christiansburg, Reba Spangler and husband Russell, Shawsville, Betty Brandau and husband Jerry, Shawsville, Mary Shepherd, Roanoke, Dolores Dunn and husband Grant, Shawsville, Alice Hodge and husband Kelvin, Salem; and many special nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at Seneca Baptist Church with Pastor Virgil McHone officiating.
