A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Gardner Funeral Home. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- GOAD, Carol Lou, 56, of Willis, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2001 at the Waddell Nursing Home, Galax. She is survived by five daughters, Belinda Mabry of Barren Springs, Lisa Goad of Hillsville, Cynthia Gibson of Woodlawn, Susan McFarland of Galax, Tina Lewis of Woodlawn; five brothers, Douglas L. Bolt of Radford, Nelson R. Bolt of Willis, James G. Bolt of Check, Maynard E. Bolt of Hiwassee, Michael W. Bolt of Willis; four sisters, Nelda S. Baker of Willis, Iris Spangler of Hillsville, Faye Dalton of Hillsville, Gloria Branscome of Pinnacle, N.C.; eight grandchildren. Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2001 at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with burial in Buffalo Mountain Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel, Hillsville, Va. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- KING, Mildred Ann, 85, of Shawsville, died Sunday, February 18, 2001. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, February 22 at 1 p.m. in the Shawsville White Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerri Bishop and Rev. James A. Angle officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the White Memorial United Methodist Church or the Shawsville Rescue Squad. Arrangements are being handled by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- POWELL, Mahogany, 24, of Radford, departed this life on Sunday, February 18, 2001 at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Gloria Jean Powell and her father, Arron Anderson of Pulaski. She leave to cherish her memory three brothers and three sisters, Angela (Lee, Jr.) Greene, Dion Powell, Jennell Powell, David Powell, Arron and Margaret; and her grandfather, Lawrence Powell. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 24, 2001 at 1 p.m. at the Radford Church of God in Christ, Russel and Clay Streets. Burial will be in Pinehurst Cemetery, Pulaski. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Radford Church of God in Christ, Russel and Clay St. Elder Ronald Watson will officiate. Arrangements by Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- SNIDOW, Ollie Leona Kirk, 83, of Pembroke, died Wednesday morning, February 21, 2001 at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek after a long illness. Born in Giles County on November 7, 1918 she was a daughter of the late Emory P. and Mary Murdock Kirk. A devoted wife and mother who delighted in the work of making a home she was the wife of the late Henley F. Snidow. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary L. Snidow, and a brother, Ralph E. Kirk. Surviving are a son, Randel K. Snidow of Pembroke, a stepdaughter, Peggy Evans of Arlington, Texas; two grandsons, Gary L. Snidow, Jr. of Narrows and Brian D. Snidow of Pembroke; and four great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted Friday, February 23, 2001 at 11 a.m. in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg with the Rev. Eddie Kendall officiating. The family will receive friends at the home at 214 Old Stage Road in Pembroke. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Pembroke Christian Church Memorial Fund. He will be sadly missed by his family. He is survived by his father, Donny Dale Whitlock, Check; mother, Diane Whitlock Toluay, Istanbul, Turkey; brother, Donny Dale Whitlock, Jr., Check; maternal grandparents, Euel W. Hall, Mildred Hall Weeks, both of Rocky Mount; paternal grandmother, Estella Yeatts Whitlock, Floyd; and many aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 23, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Gardner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Elines Alton Whitlock officiating. Interment will follow in Wright Cemetery.
