He collected items like this, purchasing many at local estate sales in Randolph and Wayne Counties, Indiana in the 1950s and 1960s. Others he simply found. Unfortunately, I don't have any idea how he obtained these Pulaski County photos. Before he died last year, I had agreed to help sell all his collectibles. I sold one of the Pulaski County photos on eBay before finding the other four, and only later realized that the other four were also Pulaski County photos. Each of the photos has a notation on the back. The photo I sold was an aerial view of "Pulaski City VA," according to the note on the back, but the notations (all in the same handwriting) on the other four didn't indicate where the photos were taken. However, I recently discovered that one of the photos had some lettering on what appears to be a painted board in the background in one of the photos. The lettering reads, "Made for J. W. Brillhart [?] Dublin, VA." I checked the atlas and was surprised to learn that Dublin was just a few miles from Pulaski. This was when I realized that the photo I had already sold was one of a group of five. Anyway, The photo with the "Made for J. W. Brillhart [?] Dublin, VA" lettering has a note on the back as follows. Bill Shoalter [sic] at the old Billy Dobins [sic] place. Mr. Shoalter is on horseback in this photo. Another photo has this notation: Old Mrs. Holiday [sic] and daughter and Bob Grahams wife in the center. The other two photos have notes as follows. Dick Ridpath and wife and Spouting Rock at Marblehead Neck Mass. The latter is apparently a vacation photo taken by a resident of Pulaski County. These photos are for sale.
