    1. Re: Carnahan Graves
    2. I have been searching for the grave of John Newton Carnahan, my great-grandfather, a Confederate soldier, who died on July 25, 1862. I believe that he was buried at or near the Carnahan "Old Home Place" - a house still standing at the north end of what I believe is 656 (Hurst Road) where that road dead-ends into New River/Claytor Lake. I also believe that at about the time Claytor Dam was completed and flooding of the bottomlands began (1939), a number of graves were moved, one of which may have been John's. I was told that there are graves "on top of the hill" to the west of the Old Home Place, but I have not visited that site. Does anyone have any clues as to these graves, if in fact they are there? I'm also looking for the grave of Juliette Sophia Calfee Carnahan, who died on March 1, 1909. She was John Newton Carnahan's widow. I haven't located it among any of the "Calfee" graveyards. Thanks much for any help that you might give! John Anderson Carnahan 767 South 5th Street Columbus, OH 43206 614-445-6499 _jac5830@aol.com_ (mailto:jac5830@aol.com)
