New River Obituaries ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- CAHILL, Mark Robert, 43, of Blacksburg, died Saturday, May 26, 2001. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 31, 2001 at 7 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. James O. Flaugher officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VA Tech Credit Union for an educational fund for his children. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- GRAHAM, Velvia Williams, 85, of Christiansburg, passed away and has gone home to be with her Jesus. Mrs. Graham was a faithful member of the Shawsville Congregational Holiness Church for over 60 years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ivan Poff, second husband, Nathan Williams and one daughter, Josephine Poff. She is survived by her husband, Henry John Graham; children, Hazel and Bob Wickline of Christiansburg, Irvin and Martha Poff of Salem, Lynwood and Norma Poff of Atlanta, Ga., Paul and Kathy Poff of Blacksburg, Juanita "Dot" and Billy Shepherd of Salem; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, James McNeil of Floyd; brother and sisters-in-law, Albert and Roxie Williams and Margaret Williams. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2001 at the Shawsville Congregational Holiness Church. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2001 at the church, with the Rev. Mike Spence, the Rev. Rick Collins and the Rev. Garry Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in Congregational Holiness Cemetery in Shawsville. The family would like to express their appreciation to the New River Valley Medical Center for the care given Mrs. Graham and also to the many kind prayers, thoughts and concerns given during her illness. The family would also like to request in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to Shawsville Rescue Squad, Box 14, Shawsville, Va. 24162 or to the Shawsville Congregational Holiness Church. Arrangements are being handled by Horne Funeral Service. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- HAMM, Junior Oscar, 64, of Radford, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001 in a Montgomery County Nursing home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Surviving are his wife, Mary T. Hamm of Radford; three daughters, Debra Morris of Charlottesville, Wanda Sutphin of Dublin, Theresa Haynes of Radford; two sons, James Junior Hamm, Conley Wayne Hamm, both of Radford; a special friend, Sharon Abel of Radford; two sisters, Ada Faye Hamm of Baltimore, Md., Elsie May Carrico of Madison, W.Va.; and a brother, Frank Hamm of Radford. Eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2001 at the DeVilbiss Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Shepherd and the Rev. Jube Burke officiating. Interment will follow in Belmont Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Hall Health Care, and Carilion Hospice workers, Randy, Judy, and Claudia for their care and kindness. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2001 at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001 at Cambria Baptist Church, with the Rev.
