Arrangements by Gardner Funeral Home. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- BRUMFIELD, Reuben Jacob Jr., 67, of Christiansburg, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2001. Arrangements by Horne Funeral Service. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- CROY, David F., 56, of McCoy, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at Heritage Hall Health Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 6, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the Centennial Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), McCoy, with Rev. Gordon Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the committal in the Centennial Christian Church Fellowship Hall. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Centennial Christian Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 427, McCoy, Va. 24111. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- FORD, Gillett Garner Jr., of Blacksburg, entered eternal life on Tuesday, April 3, 2001. He was a native of Newport News, but had resided in Blacksburg for the last 19 years. He was a 1979 graduate of Warwick High School. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing Education in 1984 from Virginia Polytechnical Institution in Blacksburg. He played football and ran track at Va. Tech. He grew up in Ivy Baptist Church. After moving to Blacksburg, he became a member of Christian Growth Center Church. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 18 years, Wanda L. Ford; a daughter, Juanita J. Ford; a son, Justin G. Ford; father, Gillett G. Ford, Sr.; sisters, Edna Romans, Joyce Brown, Robin Brown-Miller, Renae Brown; grandmother, Dorothy Faison; father and mother-in-law, Willie M. Smith and Alvilda A. Smith; three brothers-in-law, Ronnie Smith, Andre Smith, Willie A. Smith; sister-in-law, Patricia Hicks; a host of aunts; uncles; nieces; and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001 at Ivy Baptist Church 50 Maple Avenue, Newport news, Va. 23607. Burial will be in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Born on April 7, 1926 at Kimballton, he was a son of the late Lon and Lama Tawney Hilton. Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Army in WW II, had worked at the National Gypsum Co. and was a well known area auctioneer. Surviving are his wife Louise Williams Hilton; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Lance Hutton of New Castle; a granddaughter, Stephanie Smith; and three great-granddaughters, Bree-ann, Brittany, and Nevaeh; a brother, James C. Hilton of Anchorage, Alaska; and a sister, Mona Hilton of Ripplemead. The family will meet at the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow Street in Pembroke Sunday at 3 p.m. to greet friends and with them to remember Paul and share their love. Burial will follow in the Level Green Church Cemetery in Craig County. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to the Newport Volunteer Rescue Squad. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- MELTON, Thomas Franklin, 45, of Riner, formerly of Pulaski, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001. Funeral, Saturday 2 p.m., Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home. Visiting Friday 6 to 8 p.m. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- THOMPSON, Lottie Elizabeth, 85, of Christiansburg, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2001 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. A member of the Cambria Baptist Church, she was also a retired employee of Roses Department Store with over 25 years of service. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Helms, Annapolis, Maryland; a granddaughter, Debra Helms Engler, Arnold, Md.; a grandson, James Curtis Helms, Jr., Littleton, Colo.; sisters, Ocie Altizer, Christiansburg, Helen Webb, Salem; two brothers, John Spence, Barnwell, S.C., Lawrence Spence, Beldere, S. C.; and also four great-grandchildren. A graveside memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001 in Sunset Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Richard H. Horne. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 2024, Christiansburg, Va. 24068. Arrangements are being handled by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- WILSON, Virgie Stella, 94, of Radford, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, April 5, 2001 at Pulaski Community Hospital. She was a member of West Radford Church of God since 1933 and retired from Burlington Industries with 30 years service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Millie Wilson, one sister, Zella W. Estes, and four brothers, James, Thomas, Burt and Delmar Wilson. Survivors include a brother, William Wilson of Meadowview; special caregivers, a nephew and his wife, Edward and Katherine Estes of Radford; and 34 nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2001 at 1 p.m. at the Wideners Valley Cemetery in Lodi, Va. with Rev. Warren Wilson, Rev. James Walker and Rev. Wayne Poston officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
