New River Obituaries ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- CROY, David F., 56, of McCoy, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at Heritage Hall Health Care Center. He was born in Christiansburg on March 24, 1945 to the late Jennings and Georgia Croy. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Dean Croy and a niece, Becky Croy of Christiansburg. David is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Tom Gearheart of McCoy; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Nedra Croy, and William "Tiny" and Wanda Croy, all of Blacksburg; a sister-in-law, Sue L. Croy, Alpharetta, Ga.; six nieces, Sandra, Sharon, Donita, Cindy, Carolyn, and Kathy; one nephew, Chris; and two special friends, Jimmy and Bonnie Albert of Blacksburg. The family would like to thank the staff and employees of Heritage Hall for all their kindness and good care during David's illness. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 6, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the Centennial Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), McCoy, with Rev. Gordon Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the committal in the Centennial Christian Church Fellowship Hall. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Wanda) Defriece Delp of Dublin, Virginia; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Tammy Harris of Radford, Virginia, Diane and Curtis Snider of Parrott, Virginia, Donna and John Milstead of Draper, Virginia, and Teresa and Glenn Sutphin of Christiansburg, Va.; three sisters, Elizabeth Blevins of Marion, Virginia, Christine Stone of Lincoln, Delaware, and Edith Brown of Louisville, Kentucky; two brothers, Earl Delp of San Antonio, Texas and Johnny Lewis Delp of Hedgesville, West Virginia; seven grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Gary Harris. She was preceded in death by one sister, Lera Y. Perdue, and two brothers, Herman Young and Ralph Young. Surviving are her husband, Harry Hungate of Floyd; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert Jeffery and Annie Young of Roanoke; two sisters, Dollie Y. Lee of Christiansburg and Minnie Y. Sweeney of Christiansburg; one brother-in-law, James Perdue of Boones Mill; two sisters-in-law, Bulah Hopkins and Helena Young; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 1 until 5 p.m. Family will receive friends one hour before service time Thursday. He was born December 25, 1937 in Springdale, Va., the son of the late George Samuel and Bessie Robertson Lindsey. He was also preceded in death by a brother, George Alva Lindsey and a sister, Marie Brown. He operated the Little Walker Chevron Station for 30 years. He was a member of the New Village Pentecostal Holiness Church, Staffordsville. He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne Croy Lindsey; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marjorie and David Martin, Dublin, Donna and Ky Dao, Dublin; three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Sharon Croy, Christiansburg, Thomas and Sarita Lindsey, Dublin, Bobby Lewis Lindsey, Dublin; four sisters, Clara Griffin, Winston-Salem, N.C., Willie Mills, Maggie, Ruby Palmer and Gladys Parcell, Salem; three brothers, Cecil Lindsey, Rich Creek, Garnett Lindsey and Kenneth Lindsey, both of Dublin; six grandchildren, Cristin Lindsey, Rena Lindsey, Lindsey Martin, Rusty Martin, Zachary Dao, Kayla Croy; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Chapel, White Gate, with the Rev. Albert Carroll, Jr. and the Rev. John Hash officiating. Burial in the Shannon Cemetery, Poplar Hill.
