List I only joined this list recently to find "the New River". I know where the river is itself but I think I am looking for a place/community named New River. A fellow researcher found New River on a VA map and it was only a small circle on the North side of New River (the River) above the NW corner of Radford VA. We ordered the Pulaski and Montgomery County maps but New River (the place) is not there. According to the Moravian Memoirs of George Frederick Hartman and also his wife's, they moved from Conestoga PA to "the New River". The Indians were so bad that they only stayed 2 1/2 to 3 weeks before they moved again to Townfork (the area of present day Walnut Cove, Germanton and Bethania NC) in 1755. George had a son-in-law Henrich Schneider who left present day Forsyth Co NC and "traveled over the Mountains to New River to visit his brother". On the return trip to NC he was crossing a foard across LITTLE River when he drowned. Can someone on this list explain the geography/history of the New River that I am probably looking for??? I have seen the New River Obituaries that Rena Worthen has been submitting to this list but they have been in several Towns/Cities. Thanks Buddy Pritchett in NC
