She was born in Paint Bank, Va. on July 15, 1924 to the late Ray A. and Ida R. Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Reid Arrington and one sister, Louise Bostic. She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Diane Elmassian of Blacksburg, Mary and Bob Hockett of Christiansburg; two sons and daughter-in-law, Phil Arrington of Blacksburg, Tom and Judy Arrington of Christiansburg; one sister, Ilona Abbott of New Castle; six grandchildren, Mike Arrington, Kathy and Mike Shamblin, Lauren Hockett, Robbie Hockett, Andy Arrington, and Reid Arrington; one great-grandchild, Alexa Shamblin; special niece and nephews, Linda Bostic Smith and Larry Smith and their son, Luke Smith, Pete and Miyono Umholtz and Dot and James Ray Huff; a special young friend, Matthew Mason. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Kanney officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery. Survivors include three sons and daughter-in-laws, John William and Pansy Robinson of Radford, Roy L. and Pam Robinson of Lake of the Woods, and David H. and Donna Robinson of Waynesboro; a daughter, Dorothy Duncan of Christiansburg; a brother, John Burnett of Saltville; two sisters and brother-in-law, Beulah Jackson of Christiansburg and Billie and Gasper Henley of Elgon, Maryland; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Maryann and Larry Whited of Radford, two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald L. and Linda Sheppard, Yorktown, Ronald (Buck) and Rosa Sheppard; one granddaughter, Christina Sheppard, both of Christiansburg; three grandsons, Timothy S.
