    3. New River Obituaries ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- COOK, Ward Lenza, 80, of Floyd, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2001 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Lois A. Cook of Floyd; three sons, Lenza W. Cook of Floyd, Larry C. Cook of Salem, William L. Cook of Floyd; a daughter, Margaret C. Tilley of Greensboro, N. C.; brothers and sisters, Norvell Cook of Wolf Pen, W. Va., Clifford Cook of Pineville, W. Va., Eugene Cook of Wyoming, W. Va., Velva Adams of Indian Creek, W. Va., Margaret Morgan of Dayton, Ohio, Jo Goff of Floyd, Hobert Cook of Lavelette, W. Va. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jimmy Cannaday officiating. Interment will be held at Stewart Family Cemetery in Pineville, W. Va. Friends may call anytime after 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gardner Funeral Home, where the family will be from 6 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Carilion New River Valley Hospice, 707 Randolph Street, Radford, Va. 24141. Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- McCALL, Jean I., 82, of Blacksburg, formerly of Michigan, loving mother, grandmother, sister and a friend of many, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 4, 2001. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2001 at 2 p.m. in the Blacksburg Christian Fellowship with David Kingston conducting the service. Interment will be held in Michigan with a private service for the family. In lieu of flowers, Jean requested that contributions be made in the name of Young Life Ministry, Blacksburg Christian Fellowship Mission Fund, P. O. Box 813, Blacksburg, Va. 24063 or to a charity of your choice. The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful staff at Heritage Hall, Carilion Hospice, and the many friends who were such a tremendous support during mother's illness. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- VEST, Myrtle Morris, 90, of the Little Creek Community, Dublin, died Monday, July 9, 2001 at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, John B. and Nannie Combs Morris; two sons, Charles Jackson Vest and Wesley Benjamin (Tommy) Vest; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy (Dot) Vest; also three sisters and three brothers. She attended French's Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a home maker. She is survived by her husband, Jackson Vest, Little Creek; her children and spouses, Freda and Willard Wright, Bill and Joyce Vest, Douglas Vest, Rachel and Jerry Davis; a daughter-in-law and husband, Phyllis Vest Kirk and Harold; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Lelia) Woodyard; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a very special brother-in-law and friend, Cecil and Betty Woodyard; a very special friend, Amanda Rorrer, all of Dublin. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at French's Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church, Little Creek, with the Rev. Billy Akers officiating. Burial in the Hunter Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church Tuesday where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The A.
