The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 12 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- FISHER, Bernice Bivens, 80, of Narrows, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001 in the Richfield Nursing Home, Salem. She was born in Giles County on March 13, 1921 and was the daughter of the late Milton Luther and Mona Beatrice Perdue Bivens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie B. Hazelwood and a brother, W.C. Bivens. She was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy, Narrows. She is survived by her husband, Preston E. Fisher; a son and his wife, Larry and Janice Fisher, Elliston; a daughter and her husband, Mary Lou and Charles Webster, Salem; three brothers, L.C. Bivens, Roanoke, Harvey Bivens, Dublin, Danny Bivens, Lexington, Va.; a sister, Syble Duncan, Stella, N.C.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 15, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Riffe's Funeral Chapel in Narrows with Rev. Jim Hagy officiating. Burial will follow in Angel's Rest Cemetery, Narrows. Surviving are two sisters, Madeline Meadows of War Ridge, W.Va., and Margie Lee Miller of Florida; a special niece, Jane Tabor of Pearisburg; and special friends, Rudolph K. and Edith Edwards of Radford. Three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2001 at The Fairlawn Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a retired employee of Pulaski Furniture Co. Survivors include two nieces, Nancy Puffenberger and Linda Hall, both of Columbus, Ohio; two nephews, John Hamblin of Strasburg and John Carper of Shawsville. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin with the Rev. Curt McKee officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens in Dublin with the Rev. Curt McKee officiating where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites.
