New River Obituaries ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- CREASY, Raymond Woodrow, of Portsmouth, Va. and formerly of Montgomery County, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Creasy Graves. Raymond is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Creasy Sheppard, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Services will be private. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- HARLESS, Lillie Mae, 77, of 412B Church Street in Pearisburg, died Monday, July 9, 2001 at her home in the loving care of her family after a long illness. Born in Giles County on November 26, 1923, she was a daughter of the late John Hampton and Grace Rogers Scott. She was a devoted member of Pearisburg Christ Fellowship Church and retired from the Celanese Plant at Narrows. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert L. Doyle and Arthur Dunkley Harless; a son, Gary Harless; and a sister, Bonnie Whittaker. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Debbie Harless of Max Meadows, David and Phyliss Harless of Dublin; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Doyle and Wallace Baker of Ripplemead; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; four sisters, Hallie Fain of Prices Fork, Frances Neice of Pearisburg, Hazel Spangler of Christiansburg, Judy Caldwell of Rich Creek. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Pearisburg Christ Fellowship Church with Pastor Carl Rouintree officiating. Burial will following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends and the body will lie in state at Pearisburg Christ Fellowship Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Lillie's name to Pearisburg Christ Fellowship at 1402 Wenonah Avenue in Pearisburg, Va. 24134. The Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke is in charge of arrangements. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- KIRK, Florence Alene Price, 87, of Prices Fork, died Monday, July 9, 2001 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was born in Prices Fork, Va. on May 11, 1914 to the late Walter Alexander and Melissa Alice Olinger Price. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Elliott Kirk, Sr. and a sister, Clara E. Brown. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roscoe E., Jr. and Olga J. Kirk of Blacksburg; her daughter and son-in-law, Carol Anne and R. Bennett Crawford of Blacksburg; brother and sister-in-law, Frank Ellison and Peggy Price of Prices Fork; two grandchildren, Michael E. Kirk of Homer, Ill., Lori Anne and Victor A. Sheppard of Prices Fork; three step-grandchildren, Virginia Lookabill of Lashmeet, W.Va., Jane and G. Scott of Lewisburg, W.Va., John Crawford of Charleston, W.Va.; two great-grandchildren, Victor A. Sheppard, Jr. of Blacksburg, Christopher William Sheppard of Prices Fork; three step-great-grandchildren, Nicole and Jesse Lookabill, Hunter Scott; many special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 12, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the St. Michael's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Linda Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. Friends may call anytime after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg Rescue Squad, 200 Progress St., NE, Blacksburg, Va. 24060. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- WILSON, Norma Jean Thompson, 65, of Pulaski, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many, went with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 10, 2001. She was preceded in death by her parents, Randal and Flossie Thompson. Surviving are her loving husband of 43 years, Dewey S. Wilson, Jr., Pulaski; son, Mike Wilson, Christiansburg; sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Rena Wilson, Pulaski, Randy and Karen Wilson, Richmond, Tony and Jan Lowry, High Point, N.C.; sister, Sue Weddle, Winston-Salem, N.C.; grandchildren, Caleb and Courtney Wilson, Pulaski, Chelsea and Seth Wilson, Richmond. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the many friends for their loving and gracious support throughout Mrs. Wilson's extended illness. Also the loving care provided by doctors, nurses and staff at Carilion is deeply appreciated. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Dublin United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jim Linkous and the Rev. Mike Travis officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. from the Dublin United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Dublin United Methodist Church or the charity of one's choice.
