New River Obituaries ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- DEAN, Charles Buhrman, 87, of 401 Gale Road, Pearisburg, Va., died Thursday, June 7, 2001, in the Avante Nursing Home, Waynesboro. Mr. Dean was born on October 12, 1913, in Philadelphia, Pa. and was a son of the late Oswald C. and Margaret K. Dean. Until his retirement in 1977, he had worked for the Celanese Corp. for 45 years. He was a member of the Pearisburg First United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He was a life member of the Masonic order, The Moose, Knights of Pythias, and the Order of DeMolay. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Helen L. Dean; and a daughter, Margaret Louise Dean. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Terry Smoot of Waynesboro; a sister, Elizabeth Taylor and family of Cumberland, Md. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 11, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Pearisburg First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Lockerby officiating. Interment will be in Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Givens Funeral Home, Pearisburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pearisburg First United Methodist Church or AMC Hospice of the Shenandoah, 64 Sports Medicine Drive, Fishersville, Va. 22939. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- MAYBERRY, Lillian Williams, 91, of Radford, died Friday, June 8, 2001 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clitie Mayberry and a son, Arvin Mayberry. She was a member of the Radford Worship Center (First Pentecostal Holiness Church). Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Moy and Mary Mayberry, Darien, Ill; a daughter-in-law, Helen Mayberry, Bradenton, Fla., a special friend, Prudie Patrick, Radford along with 4 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday June 11, 2001 at the DeVilbiss Funeral Chapel with Rev. Hal Adams and Dr. Tony Brescia officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Radford Worship Center. The family would like to express appreciation to Pat Krebs and the Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their loving care.
