New River Obituaries ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- BECKELHEIMER, Sandra Bailey, 63, of Huddleston, died Thursday, March 1, 2001 at her residence. She was born in Pineville, W.Va. on February 28, 1938 a daughter of the late Theodore Alexander Bailey and Macy Cole Bailey. She was a member of Patmos United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, John Beckelheimer; a son, John Joseph Beckelheimer and his wife, Tammy; a daughter, Jennifer Sue Beckelheimer; four granddaughters, Jessie Hargis, Courtney Beckelheimer, Jill Beckelheimer, and Brandi Beckelheimer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or the Patmos United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at Patmos United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Carl H. Douglass, Jr. officiating. A reception will be held following the service. Arrangements by Carder-Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory, Bedford, 540-586-3443. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- HUTCHINSON, Muriel Lytton, 78, of 1300 Willow Ave, Pulaski, died Saturday morning March 3, 2001 in the Sunbridge Nursing Home, Dublin, She was born in Max Meadows on May 9, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Joseph Lytton and Roxie Seagle Lytton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Charles Hutchinson. She was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army. Surviving are children and spouses, Chip and Diane Hutchinson, Pulaski, Robin and Dave Turner, Bland, Deidre and Bob Foley, Pulaski; brother, Herndon Lytton, Richmond, Four grandchildren, Chuck Foley, Jeb Hodges, Will Turner, Jessica Turner. Funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim Linkous officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornspring Cemetery, Pulaski County. Visiting will be Sunday evening from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that memorials be made to the Alzheimers's Association, 2728 Colonial Avenue Suite 2, Roanoke, Va. 24015 or the Pulaski Fire Department, P.O. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- SARVER, Clarence Edis, 80, of the Spruce Run Community at Newport, died Friday, March 2, 2001 in the VA Medical Center in Salem after a long illness. Born in the Newport section of Giles County on June 29, 1920, he was a son of the late George H. and Ether Tabor Sarver. He was retired from the Celco Celanese Plant at Narrows and was a veteran of the US Navy in WW II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenna Kessinger Sarver; a brother, Lacy Sarver; three sisters, Louise Willard, Fannie Farrah, and Hattie Gillespie. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Betsy Long Sarver of Newport; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and David Parfitt of Montvale; two grandchildren, Melissa Karnes of Thaxton, Staci Rickman of Bedford; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter Sarver of Bedford; two sisters, Lola Kirk and Margie Scott, both of Newport. Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow Street in Pembroke. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made either to the Newport Rescue or the Newport Fire Department. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- STODDARD, Edgar Addington, Jr., of Christiansburg, died Thursday, March 1, 2001 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Patricia S. Stoddard; son, James E. Stoddard; daughter, Jil Stoddard; one grandson, Benjamin Stoddard; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2001 at Horne Funeral Home where the funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. Sunday evening with Mr. Kenneth Lytton officiating. Interment will be private.
