He was preceded in death by his father, McKinley King and a daughter, Louise "Weesie" Ober. He is survived by his wife, M. Faye King; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Gale and Bobby Woods; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Carol King; mother and stepfather, Sylvia and Seth Poff; seven grandchildren, Stacy Woods, Robbie Woods, Jr., Connie Woods, Cathy Woods, Ann Turner, Junelle King, Amanda King; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Turner, Lacey Woods, Anthony King; sister and brother-in-law, Rosalie and Steve Moran. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 8, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Copper Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery. She is survived by one son, Wayne E. Mannon, Riner; one sister, Lucy Mannon, Salem; one brother-in-law, Robert Mannon, Salem; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home with Mr. Leslie Pugh officiating. Interment will follow in Mannon Family Cemetery. Friends may call after 12 noon Tuesday at Gardner Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Wednesday one hour before service time. He was an elder in The Presbyterian Church of Floyd. He was a member of Floyd V.F.W. Post #7854, The American Legion, DAV of Christiansburg, and was a volunteer at the American Red Cross Bloodmobile in Floyd. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a double Purple Heart recipient of the Battle of the Bulge-Belgium. He was retired owner of Floyd Automotive Supply. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen David Vest, Sr. and Gertrude Wood Vest and a brother and sister-in-law, Bernice W. and Virginia J. Vest. Surviving are his wife, Susie Belle Albert Vest of Floyd; daughter, Dr. Yvonne Vest Thayer of Richmond; son and daughter-in-law, Allen David, III and Ellen M. Vest of Floyd; granddaughter, Marcee Caryn Vest of Floyd; stepgrandchildren, Lisa Sanderson of Richmond, Amanda Robertson of Raleigh, N.C., Julie Leshko of Richmond; stepgreat-grandchildren, Michael Robertson of Raleigh, N.C., Gabby Sanderson of Richmond, Thayer Leshko of Richmond. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at The Presbyterian Church of Floyd with the Rev. Mr. Michael Helms officiating. Burial will follow in Harvestwood Cemetery.
