MILLER Funeral services for John Cogal MILLER who died Monday, were held Wednesday afternoon at the family residence in the county with the Rev. Geo. PHELPS pastor of the Christian Church in charge. Mr. MILLER was one of the sons of William and Parthenia WILSON MILLER of the county. He was twice married, his first wife was Miss Rhoda ALLISON not being any children to this union. His second wife was Mrs. Nannie SIMON DUNLAP of Rockbridge County. There were five children born to this union, Rudolph C., Jane, Mrs. C.A. READ, William H and Florence, all of this county. Mr. MILLER was a well known farmer, having been born and reared on the farm on which he died. He had been in declining health for several years but only bedfast for a few hours, making his death come as a shock to his relatives and friends. He had been a member of the Christian Church since childhood. Flower bearers were: Misses Lizzie and Ola GUNN, Maude JOHNSON, Stella MILLER, C.C. OWENS, Frank SURRATT, Gene MILLER, C.C. HARVEY. Active pallbearers; William GOTT, A.C. GOTT, George MILLER, Charlie MILLER, Frank SURRATT, Charles William OWENS, J.F. HALL, Son WHITAKER. Honorary pallbearers; C.M. DUNLAP, K.D. KERBEY, Dr. N. FARLEY, M.C. GILMORE, H.C. PATTERSON, J.F. MORRIS, Howe FARMER, R.C. GUNN, Charlie HARVEY, Seldom RUNION. Those out of the county attending the funeral were Mr. & Mrs. C.C. HARVEY and daughter Caroline of Princeton, WVA, Mrs. G.M. MORRIS and son Vernon, Miss Beryl ECKLES of Roanoke, C.M. DUNLAP of Fairfield, Mrs. Elizabeth SMITH and son of Petersburg, J.F. HALL and daughter of Elliston, Mrs. R.S. CALFEE and son James of Radford.
