Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 20, 2001 at 2 p.m. in the Level Green Christian Church, Craig County, with the Rev. Michael Whitaker officiating. Interment will follow in the Level Green Christian Church Cemetery. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- BARKER, George Calvin, 73, of Prices Fork, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, January 17, 2001 from Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born in Montgomery County, Va. on April 11, 1927 to the late Charles Jefferson and Lula Reed Barker. George was a very devoted Christian and was a member of The Church of God. He worked as a cheese maker for 12 years followed by employment at Radford Arsenal. George retired from Virginia Tech after 17 years of service with the Security Department. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his loving wife, Nora Esther Sheppard Barker of Prices Fork; one son, Calvin Dean Barker of Prices Fork and friend, Mamie Jones of Blacksburg; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Ethel B. Young of Christiansburg, Gladiola and James Howard Dowdy of Pilot; one sister-in-law, Zelva Barker of Christiansburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Lois Barker of Blacksburg; special friends, Chris and Crystal Dickerson, Ray and Nora Stover, Daniel, Randy, April and Katelyn Stover, Della, Paul, and Jonathan Hetherington, Eunice and James Jones, Lynn Akers; many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends who will miss him. Born in Radford on October 10, 1957, he was a son of the late John B., Sr., and Frances Dewease. He was a painter by trade. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Ann Russler Dewease; a son, John David Russler of Pembroke; and a daughter, Crystal Shively of Elliston; a granddaughter, Montana Shively; and two sisters, Bonnie Plaster and Anita Dewease, both of Radford. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke with burial following in the Williams Cemetery at Hoges Chapel. Mrs. Sadler was born on October 12, 1930, in Poplar Hill near Pearisburg and was a daughter of the late Burky Banks and Annie Neice Stafford. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Willard, Emory, and Edward Stafford. Mrs. Sadler was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Bane. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, John Ray Sadler of Staffordsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Douglas W. and Darlene K. Sadler of Pearisburg; two darling grandchildren, Ashley and David Sadler of Pearisburg; one sister, Katherine S. Morris of Blacksburg; one brother, John J. Jones, Sr. A cherished wife and mother, she was a loving and caring sister and aunt. With Dee's love of photography, she furnished her family with several picture albums, which they will cherish forever. Dee was employed by First Union Bank for 20 years.
