Funeral services 2 p.m. Monday at Wood Funeral Home in Floyd. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- BULLOCK, Marjorie Leslie, 89, of Blacksburg, and formerly of Vass, N.C., died Friday, January 19, 2001, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Joseph Marcy of Blacksburg; two grandchildren, Jeremy Edward Marcy and Joanna Leslie Marcy, both of Blacksburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg United Methodist Church, 111 Church Street, Blacksburg, Va. 24060 or to the Vass United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 207, Vass, N.C. 28394. Funeral services will be conducted in Vass, N.C. at a later date. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Helms Clemons and two sons, Marvin H. Clemons and Donald Clemons. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Bettie Clemons of Parrott; one daughter, Julie Ann Frith of Riner; four precious grandchildren, David Dudley, Deanna Dudley, Debbie and David Lowe, Denise Clemons; two darling great-grandchildren, Warren Dudley, Dawn Haley; sister, Pearl Clemons; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will held Monday, January 22, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Gardner Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Blackwell officiating. Interment will follow in Sowers Cemetery. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Wayne Harman; and also his parents, William G. and Viola R. Harman, Jr. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Anita Harman and Steve and Stephanie Harman, both of Newbern; brother, George Harman of Newbern; sister, Alice Kinder of Tazewell; four grandchildren, Sunshine Bland, John Harmon, Cody Harmon, and Mark Kiser; and one great-grandchild, Logan Reed Bland. Memorial services will be held Sunday January 21, 2001 at 6 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with the Rev. Sam Vance officiating. Hurt; two daughters, Judy Little of Christiansburg and her two children, Cindy and Josh Bolling; Alison Hurt of New Zealand, also Roger Belcher and family; Alice Faye Smith all from out of state; and Joanna Sunshine, husband, Donald and their three sons, Ruck, Ryan and Donn, all of Blacksburg. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Sunday January 21, 2001 at the graveside in Piedmont Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Donn Sunshine. Arrangements by Mullins Funeral Home, Radford. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- RATCLIFF, James Hampton, 75, of Blacksburg, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2001, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born in Montgomery County on August 24, 1925, to the late Arthur Hampton and Sallie Cooper Ratcliff. He was married for 52 years to Hazel McMahan Ratcliff who preceded him in death in July 1999, also preceded by a son, Charles (Chuck) E. Ratcliff in May 1995. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Second Infantry Division in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant and was decorated with a Purple Heart. He retired from the U.S. Government with 29 years of service, 19 years with the Postal Service and ten years with the Veterans Administration. He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Pat Johnson of Blacksburg, Sharon and Bob Brick of Chester, Carolyn and Bud Maye of South Carolina, Trisha Weeks of Blacksburg; two sons and daughter-in-law, Leroy and Holly Ratcliff, Rick Ratcliff, all of Blacksburg; ten grandchildren, Leon, Darrell, Angela, Phillip, Jeremy, Kimberly, Corey, Amy, Shawn, and Derrick; three great-grandchildren, Sharee, Shawn, and Shaina; one sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Frank Cook of Christiansburg; and three half-sisters and brother-in-law, Virginia Caldwell, Elsie Furrow, both of Blacksburg, Peggy and Roy Mitchell of Christiansburg. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 22, 2001, at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Akers officiating. He had recently made his home at Union City and Martin, Tenn. He was born March 28, 1906 in Montgomery County, Va. He was a retired welder for the Norfolk & Western Railway. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Gearheart Rakes, son, Hubert Rakes, an infant daughter, Shelby Rakes, six sisters and five brothers. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Georgie Rakes of Smith Mountain Lake; his daughters and sons-in-law, Nelda and Willard King, Carolyn and L. D. Adkins, and Linda Battle, all of Union City, Tenn., Joyce Rakes of Roanoke; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Rakes of Salem; grandchildren include Pam Betts, Sandra Allman, Robert King, Jennifer Battle and Cathy Adkins, all of Union City, Tenn., Leigh Ann Adkins Smith of Dyersburg, Tenn., Judy Robertson of Roanoke, Debbie Rakes of Salem, Kathy Rakes of Texas, Terry Schoonover of Smith Mountain Lake and Gary Preston "Butch" Rakes of Powhatan.
