    1. CALFEE Quest
    2. Greetings All: I just joined your list in the hopes of finding some information on the following individual. I understand that Pulaski Co was formed from portions of Wythe Co that included the Reed Island area. I am trying to establish a connection between John C. CALFEE of  Bibb County, Alabama and the Virginia CALFEEs.  I suspect that my John C. could be the son of  William CALFEE (1743-1801) and Mary WILSON (abt 1750-Feb 1843) who both last lived and died in Wythe Co, Virginia (now Pulaski Co).   William is listed as having had a son John that I know very little about, and he is the #1 suspect to be my John C. According to William's will probated in Wythe Co on 13 OCT 1801, sons John and Samuel were to each inherit 1/2 of the land that their mother Mary would live on until her death (Feb 1843).  My John C. died in late 1843.  Would you possibly have any information that may include a will from Mary (Wilson) Calfee or court records from a land claim from a Calfee from Alabama for land in Wythe/Pulaski Co ? My John's migration seems to have coincided with that of many others from the Wythe/Pulaski area who were Calfees or related to them.   My John appears to have been in South Carolina in 1797, then possibly Tennessee on the way to Green / Adair County, Kentuck from 1797-1812, then Tennesse (Franklin or Franklin Co) from about 1812-1818, then to Tuscaloosa and Bibb Counties in Alabama until his death in 1843. He was married three times: Martha Garrett, Joannah Jack, and Edith Clements. The first marriage may have been in South Carolina, the second two in Tuscaloosa Co, Alabama. I am interested in any assistance you could offer to include libraries in Virginia that are good sources of information. I am in the Army, stationed in Japan, but temporarily here in Virginia so I will have some time on the weekends to research. Thank you, Ronald Caffee
