He was Maintenance Supervisor for Floyd County Schools. Surviving are his parents, Robert L. and Roma Lee Allen of Floyd; grandmother, Irene Allen of Copper Hill; special friend, April Marshall of Indian Valley; several friends and cousins. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Stetler and Rev. J. C. Holden officiating. Burial will follow in the Radford Cemetery. Friends may call at the Maberry Funeral Home after 11 a.m. Wednesday where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to the Radford Cemetery. - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- CARR, Clara Stewart, 85, of 1604 Wadsworth Street, Radford, Va., died Monday, January 8, 2001 at the New River Valley Medical Center. Born in Radford, Va. on July 19, 1915 to the late Samuel Stewart and Essie Pettus. Surviving are a daughter, Faye Carr Brown of Radford, Va.; a son, Henry Stewart Carr of Alexandria, Va., a brother, Samuel Stewart, Jr. of Radford, Va.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2001 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Rev. N. T. Perkins officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. She is survived by four children, Malcolm (Mike) and Etta Rausch of Fairview, Missouri, Cindi Douglas of Newport, David Rausch of Eastpointe, Michigan, Heather and Bill Drinane of Boerne, Texas; and her ex-husband, Chester Rausch of Eastpointe, Michigan. Funeral services will be conducted in Eastpointe, Michigan. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- SHANKS, Charles Thomas Humphries, (Charlie), 28, of Buena Vista, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2001. He was preceded in death by his birth parents, Charles Thomas Humphries, Sr. and Sue Derr Humphries. Charlie is survived by his parents, Fred and Roberta Shanks of Buena Vista; one brother, Dwight Shanks of Lexington; three sisters, Cheri Shanks Snead and Debra Shanks Hamric, both of Lynchburg, and Wendi Shanks Harris of Radford; two nephews, Hunter Shanks of Lexington and Matthew Snead of Lynchburg; a niece, Carlie Shanks of Lexington. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Reverend David Bain officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- KING, Doris Pauline Williams, 85, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of Ivanhoe, Va., died Monday, January 8, 2001, in the Southern Hill Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn. She was born in Wythe County, the daughter of the late Mellie Hicks and Laura Myrtle Miller Williams and was a member of the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church and the Ladies Aide Society United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Howard King and a daughter-in-law, Lena Mae King. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Howard King, Jr. of Galax, Va., Randall and Violet King of Mocksville, N.C., Forest "Bo" and Barbara King of Wytheville, Va.; seven daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Griggs Hampton of Woodlawn, Va., Linda and Ron Morrison of Summerville, Ga., Pat and Jim Puckett of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Elaine and Bill Widner, Jean and Dewell Lineberry, Treasa and Kenneth Reynolds, all of Galax, Va., Cheryl and Bobby Vaughan of Smyrna, Tenn.; three sisters, Cecil Hartley of Waynesboro, Va., Ethel Taylor of Ivanhoe, Va., Shirley Baston of Lexington, S.C.; two brothers, M. M. Williams of Max Meadows, Va., Bob Williams of Columbia, S.C.; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 11, 2001, at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rance Edwards and the Rev. Larry Linkous officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope United Methodist Cemetery. The body will be taken to the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville, Virginia, is in charge of the arrangements. - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- PAYNE, Carrlee Johnson, 48, of Lindside, W.Va., died Sunday, January 7, 2001 in the Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital. He was born in Pearisburg on August 26, 1952 and was the son of the late Opal Carr and Jessee Lee Pyles Payne. He was a control room operator at the Appalachian Power Plant at Glen Lyn. He is survived by his wife, Linda M. Payne, Lindside, W.Va.; four sons, Eric Payne, Jeremy Payne, Larry Payne, all of Pearisburg, Roger Shepherd, Roanoke; two daughters, Barbara Dalton, Pearisburg, Shannon Fields, Narrows; three sisters, Barbara Green, Shelby Riggs, Virginia Moye, all of Pearisburg; four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 11, 2001 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with Rev. Wilmar Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Angel's Rest Cemetery, Narrows. The family will receive friends at Riffe's in Narrows, Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- MILTON, Sue Howard, 64, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, January 8, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Milton, Jr. and her father, Frank A. Howard. Sue was born on November 30, 1935 in Pulaski. She attended Longwood College and worked at General Electric Company before dedicating her life to being a homemaker. Sue lived in Gainesville, Ga. for twelve years before moving back to Roanoke in 1995. She was an active member of Salem Presbyterian Church. Surviving family include her mother, Mrs. Lucille R. Howard of Wytheville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Bob Jordan of Roanoke, Robin and Jeff Loggins of Gainesville, Ga.; five grandchildren, Clint, Sam, and Emma Jordan of Roanoke, Palmer and Anderson Loggins of Gainesville, Ga.; a sister-in-law and her husband, Joyce and Paul Rotenberry of Roanoke; and two nieces, Karen Bischof and Kelly Wittkoff, both of Richmond. The family would like to thank all her dear friends that have loved and supported Sue during her illness. A special thank you to her caregivers, including Angel Legans, Tonya Saunders, Bonnie Poff, Phyllis Byrd; Good Samaritan Hospice Staff, Kelly Beck, and Kathy Moses. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from Salem Presbyterian Church (North Market Street, Salem) with the Rev. Dean Lindsey and the Rev. Quigg Lawrence officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Salem Presbyterian Church Building Fund (P.O.
