Following is a list of the guests who attended:" (my notes are smaller type) Allen Hurst and Nancy Cook (Allen was with his mother on the 1850 census, family #105: Nancy was with her mother Mary, family 161 on the 1850 census) Jack Nunn and Senie O'Dell ( I would like to identify this couple) Nimrod Whittaker and Beth Hurst (this couple were married 16 Aug 1838, family 57 on 1850 census) Uriah Southern and Virginia Harmon (this couple was family #119 on the 1850 census) Jimmy Crowell and Nancy Hurst (James W Crowell and Nancy were married 25 Mar 1852) Calvin Hurst and Virginia Nunn (this couple married 27 Feb 1851; he was listed with his mother on the 1850 census) James Kersey and Mary Cook (a James Kersey, age 16 was living with Janmaih Odle on the 1850 census, family#99; a Mary Cook, age 14, was living with Mary Cook age 51, family #161, 1850 census/ Pulaski marriage records: James Kersey md. Mary Cook 4 May 1852) Wesley Hurst and Charity Nunn (family #106 on 1850 census) Billy Hurst and Miss Odell (William Hurst married Phoebe Odell 1 Jan 1840) Jimmy Stone and Rhonda Hurst (married, 1 Jan 1841, family #95, 1850 census) Mr Nester and Matilda Hurst (Jonathan Nester married Matilda 25 Aug 1845, Matilda listed alone on 1850 census famiyy #113) Marion Hawley and Amicita Nester George, Henry and Allen Cook James Keety Tom Nunn Ike and Steve Tipton the article continues: "It is reported that the couples wed as they came to the ball. The gentlemen who came alone never married. The Cook brothers became teachers and taught throughout the U.S. and foreign countries." Allen Hurst, Beth Hurst, Calvin Hurst, Wesley Hurst, Rhonda Hurst, Matilda Hurst were the children of Thomas and Jemima Hurst. She appeared without Thomas as family #105 on the 1850 census. With her were Allen age 25, Nancy age 23 and Calvin age 21. Wesley and Charity were next door.
Judy, that info was originally in Samuel Need Hurst's book "The Mountains Redeemed." I did a post on that somewhere more than a year ago, identifying all the wedding participants.
