Alderman points out that he is really William. There is a William and Susannah Hurst in that census, but they are William Hurst, the son of Thomas Hurst and Jemima Breeding of Pulaski, and Susannah Nester. They soon moved to Mercer County. The real Joseph Hurst was in Wythe County in 1850; I believe he was the Carroll County William's brother. May 1893) married Geneva Farmer on 15 Dec 1915, apparently later divorced as Geneva married again in 1919. Yep, F.C. was Fugate Clark Hurst (14 Dec 1887 - 30 Aug 1963) married to Rosa Emily Quesenberry (1887 - 1971). I have tombstone photo from Oakwood. Also, James Ballard Hurst's paternal great grandparents were William Hurst and Rachel Cummins who married in Loudoun County on 22 Jan 1798. I believe William was in the 1810 Montgomery County census, then in the 1820 and 1830 Wythe censuses. He lived on Big Reed Island Creek in what's now Pulaski, buying land from Francis Allison and William Lindsey. His estate was inventoried in Pulaski on 5 Dec 1839. Bill Hurst

Well folks.....I'm getting my "to do" list completed and I've added another new page WWII Deaths in Pulaski County, Virginia http://www.rootsweb.com/~vapulask/Military/PulaskiWWIIa.htm If you have any photographs or personal stories of those who died that you would like to add be sure and let me know. Tami
Hi Tami and Judy, Gee, each of you has issued us another assignment. :) I don't know about everybody else, but I've been working almost full time processing the obits since Tami made the post here yesterday. OK, I've been watching golf, etc., too. Each new obit I've found has resulted in my having to look up census, social security death index, and other info. The obits are extremely helpful in straightening out family relationships. Judy Alley's Foutz post had a couple of facts I was able to use. Both of you keep up the good work! For the immediate future, my additonal contribution will have to be limited to answering any questions anyone has about the Hurst, Lindsey, and Wheeler obits. Bill Hurst
First of all I want to thank everyone for the "warm" fuzzies that they have sent my way....ya'll are great! Second...I wanted to mention that this is a really BIG project and I am adding about 20 to 40 new articles daily so be sure and hit your "refresh" button everytime you visit the page. I have recently added the heading of Disasters and Reunions, Birthdays and Anniversaries. I am formatting and posting the 1923 obits and they are GREAT ones (some of them covered the whole front page of the newspaper) so keep checking the obits archives. Also, If anyone would like to contribute any additional information on any obituaries just send them to me in an e-mail and I will include the "additional notes" with the obituary. Also if you have any obituaries that you know came from the SW Times and you would like to contribute them be sure and send those as well. http://www.rootsweb.com/~vapulask/swtimes/ Tami Ramsey
It would be great if everyone would work through these obits, select their own lines and help fill in the blanks for the rest of us. This might help us to identify "missing" female family members. By the time several generations have past one isn't always looking for the same names of their lines. for example, I would never have known to look for Queen or Foutz as a family name if it hadn't been for all the hard work by Tami and her associates. A very big thank you to Tami and team for sharing so much information with the rest of us. Judy
