John Nickelson's mother was Sarah Lawson who married Thomas NIcholson in Stokes Cnty NC about 1825. The letter was from Stephen Aker. I have found Mr. Aker in Wythe Cnty VA, but I think that John Lawson lived in Pulaski VA. Mr Aker was once married to John Nickelson's aunt,Corina Sisk-a daughter of Gideon and Paulina Nicholson Sisk. Any help would be welcome. Jerry Duncan
My grandparents were Rochie Jane Allison (b. 7 Feb 1880, d.13 Mar 1934) and Isaac Emmanuel Jennings (b. 17 Mar 1877, d. 1962) m. 24 Jan 1905 in the Delton area. I have Laura Corrothers book on the Allison family but little information on the early Jennings line beyond Isaac E.'s father James Madison b. 23 Nov 1844, d. 13 Apr 1929 and his father James age 39 in the 1850 census in Carroll Co. Does anyone have further info or know of sources for earlier Jennings family history? Thanks, Mark --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Take Yahoo! Mail with you! Surnames: Carrico Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2BC.2ACI/814 Message Board Post: Hi - I am looking for information on the history of an old home in Pulaski, Virginia. The house is located at 120 4th St, NW and is an old blue victorian that supposedly was built in 1880 but possibly as early as 1848. It has two stories, a wrap around porch in the front and has a civil-war-era low stone wall running around the property. The stone supposedly comes from Peak Creek which runs only a few blocks from the property. The house sits beside a home health care business and a funeral home is behind it. The home was most recently occupied by Mrs. Carrico until her death. The name I have is Marie R. Carrico but that might be her sister's name (I am unsure). I know that at one time the house was divided into apartments for rent but had since been renovated back into a single family dwelling prior to Mrs. Carrico living there. I also know that Mrs. Carrico's husband passed away long before her and 8 months later her son also died an untimely death so for many years she had! no immediate family other than her sister. If anyone knows anything about Mrs. Carrico or the house that I am speaking of please let me know. We are interested in any information at all.

Surnames: Reed Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2BC.2ACI/812 Message Board Post: For those who have unfortunately run into a genealogical "brick wall" concerning your Reed/Reid/Read/Riedt ancestor, science and technology has recently provided us with a very exciting and potent tool to aid us in our long-standing quest for identifying our ancestral heritage. To this end, the Reed Y-chromosome DNA Project was launched last year and is now up to twenty participants and counting. So if you, or a male relative of yours (father, husband, brother, cousin, etc.) have the surname of Reed (or any variant spelling), and descend from any of the Reed/Read/Reid/Riedt families of early Pulaski Co., VA, then it might be something you’d want to take a look at. Results thus far in the ongoing project are posted at http://www.familytreedna.com/public/reed/. As a sidenote, for any potential participants who may be the least bit concerned about privacy-related issues, these are fully addressed within the links associated with the above web site. And since this international study only deals with a very tiny, and specific, segment of the entire DNA sequence, it can only be used to aid in scientifically confirming the degree of relatedness between the many Reed/Reid/Read, etc. study participants - merely to help us determine which participant we share a common Reed/Reid/Read, etc. ancestor with (if any), and estimate how many generations back this event likely occurred. In fact, this study has already allowed me to eliminate a couple of long-standing, potential Reed ancestors off of my own list, so that I am now able to focus on the remaining potential lines that I've assimilated in my many years of research to date. And obviously, as more and more study results (and hopefully matches, or near matches) come in from worldwide participants, our search can be even further narrowed, thus bringing us closer to scientifically identifying our "true" ancestral line, as well as their country of origin, etc., if we're fortunate. So, by all means, please participate if you can and see the above link for further details. A mere twelve (12) y-DNA marker test should be quite sufficient for now. Best wishes, Bob P.S. The aforementioned web site may also be referenced for a list of all "other" DNA -surname projects (hundreds) presently underway. Check it out; it'll be worth your while.

Her name is Pauline Owens Myers according to the obituary. My connection is through her mother-MARY CATHERINE TALBERT inwhich I am directly related.
