    3. I just wanted to remind everyone that a Pulaski County history book will soon be compiled. I had an email from the people who, I guess, represent the publishers. I need to work on my families and get something together. I believe there maybe something from last year or this about this in the archives. Will have to start looking for the information. But I thought I would let new subscribers know and remind the "oldsters". Will post again soon when I find the info again. Bonnie Williams

Va Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Pulaski/241 Surname: McPeak, Oneal, Bolt ------------------------- Reuben McPeak was actually from Floyd County VA. His son Benjamin Emmett McPeak moved to Pulaski County. "Emmett" McPeak was a child of Rueben's second marriage to Martha Oneal Bolt, the widow of William Madison Bolt. Martha was Reuben's childhood sweetheart. They both married others, and after the death of the spouses, they finally got married. I don't have a death date for Wm. "Matt" Bolt, but Rueben's wife Minerva Hylton died June 1877 and he and Martha married Dec. 1877. Mary Anne

    3. A *special* thank you to everyone that answered my "flower girl" question. It makes sense that they would carry the flowers from the home to the funeral, but when I first read that there were 12 flower girls at a funeral I had horrible visions of them throwing flower petals! <g> My knowledge is now complete and I feel MUCH better! Thanks again..... Tami P. I know it as the Rhodes Cemetery in Pulaski County. The Grahams are great-great grandparents. Mary Jane Otey Graham was a Sowers whose first husband was Henry Otey. I was wondering if you were related.

    3. I know where Marion Simpkins and Beatrice Hurst are buried, in the same small cemetery that my grandparents were buried in, Arabella was my gr gr aunt. Have an email group for you to join that includes Hursts, Nunns and Breedings. They are very thickly interwoven in the county with Odells, Quesenberrys, Hawleys, and other families. Also Willis', there is a Willis in the cemetery. Bonnie Wms.

    3. While copying a Pulaski obituary from the 1940's today I came across something very interesting and wondered if anyone had ever heard of this before.....in addition to six pallbearers there were 12 Flower Girls........was is a common practice in Pulaski County to have flower girls? What was their purpose? It really has my curiosity going as I have never run across this before. Tami P.
