A graduate of Christiansburg High School and five star Thespian of Troupe 3070. Scott attended the North Carolina School of Arts and VCU. Scot was a creative human being who helped with the restoration of the Byrd Theater in Richmond. After helping open Thalhimers in Valley View Mall in 1985 as visual coordinator, he moved to Charleston, S.C. as a Senior Executive for Thalhimers. He then moved to Atlanta where he designed one of a kind furniture and cabinets for Casa Garcia. Besides being a collector and expert of 50's style furniture and housewares, Scott was well known for his opinions and strong will. When he moved back to Christiansburg in 1999, he had decided to give up on therapies that made him feel bad and concentrate on his quality of life. Even though his hometown had shown its fair share of prejudices in his past, he knew that there were also people here who loved and supported him. So he came home. In his last days, he remained fiercely independent and strong minded, in his last moments he was still able to communicate his will. He made his new millennium, now he may rest in peace. Our family would like to thank all our friends and family for their support, especially Favorite Aunt Claudia and Warren Stutzman, Ruby Morris, Mary Lynn Brown, Jeff Simpkins, Dari Cupp and Cornelia King. Thank you to the dedicated people from Carilion Hospice, you have been a great comfort. The family will receive friends anytime at 567 Wisteria Drive in the Walton area of Montgomery County. Hello: I was wondering if any one know what someone with the name Emma's real name could be. I got marriage certificate that list the mother's name as Emma. Can Emma be a nickname for some other name like Peggy is for Margaret? Paul: I found out what the initial L & E stood for on my gggrandfather's marriage certificate. I sent for the actual certificate from Pulaski CH and the information is different from the books, although I can not read the father's name clearly but it's another starting point. The following message is from Cyndi Howell but this needs to be a reminder to us all...............Happy Hunting! Hello all - Happy new year! Each January we see a huge influx of newbies joining us online because Santa was generous and left a sparkling new computer under the tree. There are also many after-holidays sales which offer people the opportunity to purchase a snazzy new computer or modem. Many people get online for the first time and enthusiastically don their cyber-bikinis, hitting the surf with gusto. They are excited to be here and they are (much as we "oldbies" were) rightfully overwhelmed by all that there is to see and do. The language here is foreign to them. The technology is newer, fancier and zippier than they may have used in the past. And the way that we all participate in our giant, online genealogical society, while being very similar to offline groups, is still a bit different than they may be prepared for. In other words, it is a brave new world to them. I would like to put out a call to each of you to show these newbies that we are a friendly, welcoming and helpful group of online genealogists. To do so we all need to pitch in and show patience, understanding and kindness. We also need to put on our teaching caps and be prepared to show them the ropes. 1. Don't make assumptions. 2. Explain things in detail, include URLs and complete instructions. 3. Verify details and addresses before you send them to people. 4. Offer to help people privately via e-mail, off of the mailing lists. 5. Be prepared to explain things more than once, in more than one way. 6. Keep in mind that we were all new at one time. 7. Keep in mind that we all learn something new every day. 8. Reach out to your fellow researchers and set a good example. There are several places online to which you can point newbies in order to help them learn about this new research venue. I have tried to make these easy to locate by setting up links on my site: Internet Stuff You Need To Know http://www.CyndisList.com/internet.htm Also be sure to point them to these basic starting places online: Cyndi's List of Genealogy Sites on the Internet http://www.CyndisList.com Your genealogical research portal onto the Internet RootsWeb http://www.RootsWeb.com See the RootsWeb Help Desk: http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/ FamilySearch Internet Genealogy Service http://www.familysearch.org/ Genealogy Resources on the Internet - Mailing Lists http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html Good luck and successful surfing to everyone online - both newbies and oldbies, Cyndi http://www.CyndisList.com Tami P. Our family would like to thank all our friends and family for their support, especially Favorite Aunt Claudia and Warren Stutzman, Ruby Morris, Jeff Simpkins, Dari Cupp and Cornelia King. Thank you to the dedicated people from Carilion Hospice, you have been a great comfort. The family will receive friends anytime at 567 Wisteria Drive in the Walton area of Montgomery County. A memorial service will be held on January 6, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the same address. Because flowers will grow in the spring, the family asks that donations be made to the T. I am searching for any info on William H. Ricketts. He married Emily C. Barger in Pulaski County on 9 Dec. 1875. I believe he moved to Pulaski County from Washington County, VA. If anyone has any other info on him, or on this marriage record I would love to hear from you. I believe he is a brother to my 8 foot thick brick wall, John Henry Ricketts! Many Thanks, Marlene Avery
Judy, I was looking also. And for everyone's information, it only covers up to 1900 for Pulaski Co. I went page by page for awhile then jumped ahead hoping to see marriages past 1900 , that is when I discovered that they started all over again, so there are not 6200+ marriages for Pulaski. If I remember correctly there are less than 2000. (I entered Pulaski in the search engine). Wanted to make sure I did not miss any possible spellings of names I was researching. I had found that Willis had been entered in as Willias, with the unneccessary A). So,...
This is for anyone researching the surnames of Roseberry and Hughett. There's a mistake in the data for the marriage between George Monroe Rosberry to Allie R. Hughett in Pulaski. Ancestry has it listed as G.W. Roseberry ,which is George Monroe's father. I dont know who to write the change this. Any suggestions? PS... George Monroe Roseberry and Allie R. Hughett was married 10 Mar 1891 in Pulaski County,VA by T.F. Glenn ( Pulaski Marriages 1900-1933,pg.50, Ln 17)(Morgan)
