Here is how it goes: Sarah M. Morton Carter was my great grandfather' sister. Her parents were Thornton W. Morton and Frances(Fannie) Blakenship. Fannie was the daughter of Abel Blakenship. Thornton's father was Stephen Morton who was married to Cecilia(Selah) Blakenship, sister to David. Thornton marrried David's son Abel's daughter Frances.Confused now! Sarah Morton married James Horace Carter Auguest 22, 1867 in Farmville, Va. Horace was the son of John and Susan Carter. Sarah and Horace Carter had the following children; Minnie b 1868 married Charles Dixon Watson Peck after who my grandfather was named , Atkinson Peck Morton) Clara Frances b 1872 married William Joseph Calhoun Mary Alma who married Horace? Horace Stanley Carter b July 1878 married Virginia Biggers Their daughter Bertha married Charles Edward Skinner. I used to play jack rocks on Carters store at Throck! Cabel Carter who married William Bejamine Bell . Their grandaughter I corresond with, Julie Umbarger who lives in Roanoke. Charles Herman Carter b Nov 1884. James Lacy Carter married Pearl Alma Gibbs Theri Childred:James Horace Carter , Earl Loving Carter married Edna Grary They had a set of twins that died at birth, and also another baby that died Mary Adelaide Calhoun daughter of Clara married James Bigger Hughes. Thie son Laddie was real close to my Uncle Lewis Morton. James Horace , son of James Lacy, married Hazel Va Walker Laddie married Doris Scott childredn Laddie Jr. and Carol Ann I have more information if you need it. My grandfather as I said was Atkingson Pacso Morton married to Bertie Jane Gibson. I am Walter T. Morton's daughter. I has been trying to get more information on my grandfathers brothers, Silas Plumer, Willie ( William J. as listed in the sensus) Mary E., Silas, Jr./ Sarah M Morton had the following siblings: Mary Ann, John Stephen, Louis Watson, Silas P. Jr, Egbert( he died at age 19) Jacob and of course Sarah Magehee. It this is simi;ar to what you have or if you see any differences please let me know. By the way, I have photos of Sarah and Horace that Julie kindly shared with me. I also have information on Silas Sr.. Julie and I have just about the same information that I have writen above.
