Another approach to the Doctor (assuming given name) Davis was an interesting find. Sister to my grandmother Susan Estelle Davis (Della Maude Davis) was married to my paternal grandfather's brother (Davis Benjamin Foster) (d. 10/27/1933) and buried in an unmarked grave in a family plot adjoining my Davis/Foster family. Through cemetery records I was able to identify other members of Davis / Foster family. I know you said that cemetery records and funeral home records were not a reliable source. When you can come up with no other source, this at least gives me something to work from. Now I will need to go to the Roanoke, VA funeral home (Oakeys Funeral Home in Roanoke, VA) to ask for their records. You are very right that they are not always reliable sources as information was sometimes given by family members, have very little knowledge of the deceased, but they are a good tool to get started with, when no other source is available. Sometimes what we are looking for is just under our nose and finding that David B. Foster, m. to Della Davis was a link to father's side of the family. David B. Foster lived in Lithia, VA. Here again (the only information I have on him is Mercer County, WV 1850 Census records listing him as brother to my grandfather (Napoleon B. Foster). Ellen Foster Perdue / Roanoke, VA >>
