Frank, I don't know of your William C. and Anna B. Davis, but I have Davis ancestors in Prince Edward and wonder if your family connects to mine. My family begins with Stephen Davis who died in PE in 1781 and had children William, Nicholas, Samuel Henry and Sarah who married a Gilchrist. 1. William is deceased in Stephen's will of 1777 and I have no other information. 2. Nicholas was married to Lucy Jones and he died in 1808. Children I have are a) Nancy Berry Davis married James Cunningham, b) Elizabeth Crenshaw Davis married David Bell c) Polly J. married Samuel Gilchrist, d) Samuel married Mary Ann Foster, e) Stephen married Nancy Ann Roach, f) John Banks Davis married Elizabeth Anderson 1st and had a second wife possibly May Tenick and f) Martha married Thomas Mosley. Lucy remarred to Anderson Lumpkin. 3. Samuel Henry married Elizabeth Spencer and he died 1818. Their children were: a) William Spencer Davis who married first Martha White Venable, dtr of Robert and Sarah Madison Venable with children Sarah Elizabeth married Newton B. Cunningham, Mary married James B. Carter, Robert Venable Davis married 1st Lucy Ann Jane Patterson and 2nd Frances Pearce Smith and Harriet William Davis married Henry L. Goode. b) Henry P. Davis married 1st Sara Osborne with children Ann Elizabeth married Thomas P. Elliott, William married Mary P. Watson, Panthea married her cousin Samuel Davis Wood. He married 2nd Sarah Frances Kyle with children Sarah A. W., unknown, James H., Harriet Frances, Marietta, Pochahontas, William Preston, Alexander H. Emma F. and Helen M. c) Thomas S. Davis married 1st Mary Price and had one child William Samuel. He married 2nd Frances E. Gillespie with children James H., Emma T., George Robert, Sarah Elizabeth, and Thomas James d) Sarah Anne Davis married Thomas Wood of Botetourt County with children Elizabeth S., Samuel Davis Wood, Mary S., Ann Friend, Martha Frances, and Sarah S. e) Mary Susannah Davis married Joseph M. I've searched for well over 30 years for a Davis family in PrEdw Co.... I have Peter Davis, who died in 1785--his wife said to be Lucy Cox. The only child I have of this couple (and likely the only descendant) was daughter Lucy Davis, who married Thomas Green abt 1753 in PE Co, and raised 10 children there. I'm anxious to know some more about any DAVIS line about that period who might well be a connection. I believe Lucy Davis to be an only child of Peter Davis, because he named in his estate only the Green children....his grandchildren.....and most of them appear to have carried Davis names as given names...
