Perhaps your Walter was a sibling? In looking at James' OB, it mentions a Burnell Overton of Farmville which is the middle name of your Walter Burnel.... Accd to the 1880 Census, there is a Christopher Overtson who may be this Kit since Kit is a common nickname for Christopher. But in this census, he is married to a Sallie V and his mother in law is a Martha R Watson....so something doesn't connect here. Would like more info.
