Hello, I am looking for information on Joel Watkins who died in 1776 - He was married to Rhoda Gresham and they had ch: Samuel, Phillip, Joel, Silas and Elizabeth Watkins who married David Walker. I am looking for a daughter who wasn't mentioned in his will - Susanna Watkins. Other names mentioned in his will: David Walker, Obadiah Woodson, William and Dolley Lee, Jacob Woodson, Stephen Pettus and John Martin. I am looking for a marriage for Susanna Watkins and Charles Mckinney married about 1780. Bible records indicate that Joel and Rhoda Watkins were the parents of Susanna Wtkins who married Charles Mckinney. I would appreciate anything anyone knows about this Joel Watkins. Thank you, Marie

Marie, This Joel WATKINS must be connected somehow to Constant WATKINS who married Obediah/Obadiah WOODSON; Constant and Obediah are my gggggg-grandparents. Constant WATKINS was the daughter of John WATKINS and Elizabeth SULLIVANT. Perhaps Joel was her brother. Constant was born about 1715 and lived until 1773, so Joel is the right age to be a brother of hers. Constant and Obediah had a son named Jacob WOODSON, which explains one more name found in this will. There may or may not be useful information for you in a publication called "The Valentine Papers"; it has a sizeable section on the Woodson family, and I'm certain that a lot of information about Constant is included -- perhaps other members of her WATKINS line are mentioned as well, including Joel.
