    2. pat
    3. Patte, I went thru some of my records. I have them all in paper. The only Francis Epperson I have is is in the will of Edward Mcgehee of Cumberland 1770. I am old and don't type well so will only list the pertinant items here. Edwards dau Elizabeth married Thomas Wright . Edward gave her 400 acres adj to Thomas Wright her husband and Charles Lee and Francis Apperson /Epperson.the execs were Edwards wife (DeJarnette) and Thomas Wright and Henry Macon /Mason. The witnesses were Nathan,James and Nehemiah Glenn. Nathan Glenns dau Gracie married John McGehee and died in Pr Ed . Under Charles Lee I have will of Nathan Womack 1799 Cumberland and wife Anna (McGehee)Womack and her son Charles were executors. Their surity was Charles Lee and Richard Gordon. There are so many Woods and Lee's under various spellings in my McGehee files I cannot list them all. Under my Tucker files . The Eppersons I have are in Halifax Co . I have Richard Epperson in debt to James Cole Ap 4 1823 . He sold his land to James O Tucker 200 acres on Sandy Ck bordering Wm W Womack and others. He also sold all his negroes and livestock. In Halifax Co is Ann Eperson age 40 on 1850 census house #163 in the Household of Elijah Tucker her father 84. and next door is Elijah's son John Tucker b 1791 and his wife Scina (Cinthia) Guthrie Tucker.Elijah's other dau Sarah (Sally) was married to Samuel Epperson. Ann was known as Nancy and I do not have her husband as he was dead by 1850. Elijah's son Richard T Tucker mar Nov 25,1856 to Mary Epperson whose parents were William Epperson wife Eliza Forrest. Under the Tucker /Wood records I have this: I have the will of Joseph Tucker Sr. He was born 1722 in Pr Geo Co VA and died 1798 in Pr Ed Co VA. He married Prudence Wood prior to 1756. She died prior to 1793. In the Bristol Parish records Amelia Co Joseph was listed in the Tithables from 1739 to 1770. He sold his land to Abner Osborne Nov 21,1774 which was 290 acres on Seller Fork of Deep Creek Then in Pr Ed Co Ap 14, 1775 Thomas Watkins sold him 341 1/2 acres. Thomas Watkins 2 sons Rev's Abner and and John married Josephs 2 daus Lucy and Obedience (Biddy) and Rev Frederick Wills mar to dau Rachel. I also have a Drewry B. Wood married to Jency B Tucker Oct 28, 1811. Then I also have in Halifax I have quite a few Tucker /Wood marriages in the line of David Tucker whose 2nd wife was Mary Wood in 1805. If you need those let me know. It appears she is the widow of George Wood who sold his land there in 1797 to Joel Tucker. I have processioner reports from Cumberland County where Lee's, Browns and McGhees are neighbors of my Francis Epperson line. Francis Epperson's daughter, Martha, married Joseph Wood and I have never found siblings or parents of Joseph Wood. Francis Epperson and his children Ann Atkins and Thomas Epperson along with Joseph and Martha Wood moved to Pr. Edward County and later joseph and Martha Wood moved to Botetourt County. There was a James D. Wood that married a Frances Watkins in Pr. Edward/Charlotte and we conjecture that he is a cousin to our Wood line. A John Wood moved to Amherst County. 3. The name is McGehee and this is my direct line . Edward and Jacob Mcgehee both married DeJarnette sisters. My line is thru their brother Abraham who died in Goochland 1743. His son was also Jacob of Cumberland and Powhatan who sold his land to William Mayo and others when he married Ann Fugua of Powhatan and moved there. The problem we have always had in researching McGehee is that is is misspelled 189 ways to date. In the below you list several of those misspellings of Edward and Jacob. Others married into this line are Epperson,Tucker (also my other main line)Wood (Prudence Wood married Joseph Tucker Sr and had Wood Tucker and others)Atkins married Tuckers, Watkins married heavily into Tuckers and Mcgehee's same line of Joseph Tucker Sr,and we have Womacks, Wrights and many of the other names you cite below. Nancy is nicname for Ann Lee who married Lucious Boyden . They were in Pr Ed Co after marriage 1839 in Cumberland and had son John C.Boyden b 1842 in Pr Ed and probably others. Then in 1850 were living in Buckingham Co. However many descendants of Boyden live in Pr Ed to this day. The Watkins married several times to daus of Joseph Tucker Sr father of Wood. Abner Watkins being one and all were ministers. One of Watkins daus married Josiah Walton brother to Simeon Walton Jr son of Simeon Sr one of the earliest ministers in Baptist church in Rice on Sailors Ck where most of the Mcgehee's ended up from Cumberland including mine. 3. Hello patte: I believe we have corresponded before some years ago on the Lee family. This is the same Lee family but it is "WOOD TUCKER" that is mentioned in my earlier post re Ann N Lee and the "WOOD TUCKER" estate. Easy to confuse with the Wood surname. However, there may have been a "WOOD" in the "TUCKER" line somewhere before that time neither one of which I have researched. Thanks for your interest, query and in trying to help. I also have a Lucius Boyden married to a Nancy in Powhatan County. This is information I have in my files mentioning Lees in Cumberland County hat might be helpful. I would love to find a Wood connection. I was not able to access your mailing address so went to your other posts in here. Perhaps you can write me as my name is published. However we have many many more connections. Hawkins-Guthrie and GOODWIN plus Cumberland Co. Now it is a well known fact that my family tree does not fork. LOL. But lets do this one line at a time. On the Tuckers. My grandmother Florence was dau of Paschal GOODWIN Tucker son of Daniel Tucker son of Daniel Spain Tucker son of Daniel Tucker and (wife Martha Spain Tucker) who died 1792 in Wake Co NC.This Daniel is son of Joseph Sr ( of Nottoway/Dinwiddie and earlier Pr George Co) Tucker the father of Joseph Jr grandfather of Wood Tucker brother to Joseph 3rd. Now Daniel Spain Tucker of Pr Ed Co and later Rockingham Co NC was married 3 times. His first wife was a Goodwin . 2nd unk and 3rd was Nancy Worsham sister to Christiana Worsham that married Joseph Tucker 3rd, brother to Wood. Now this may be the 1/6th of estate of Wood but how did he have his part in brother Josephs estate? Anyway we then move on to the Guthrie and Mcgehee. You hit the Jackpot again. My Milton McGehee son of Abraham McGehee born in Cumberland Co to Jacob Mcgehee Sr and his wife Ann Fugua . She was from Powhatan Co. Jacob had sold his land in Cumberland and moved to Powhatan where his wife was from and he died there in 1794 but will recorded in Cumberland. She is dau of Joseph Fuqua Sr. Jacob Sr was son of Abraham McGehee of Goochland Co d 1743 and his wife Wilmouth Burruss originally both from King William . She remarried and moved to Cumberland with her new husband George Winniford. Abraham b 1774 son of Jacob Sr in Cumberland married 1799 to Mary Hawkins dau of Joseph Hawkins of Amelia and moved to Pr Ed Co in 1800. His son Milton had son John who married Mary Susan Miles dau of James Miles and Saluda Rowlett of Pr Ed Co. Saludas brother is Archibald Rowlett who married 2 Guthrie sisters in Pr Ed Co and was witness to 3rd Guthrie sister and a Tucker. More on them later. They had brother R.A.Guthrie. All of these people went to Weakley Co TN by 1832 or earlier and intermarried many times with the Tuckers and others. Now I have a Leigh spelling in Cumberland and will have to look for that. It is possible that Martha dau of Wood had dau Ann. Martha may have contested the will later and also when Mary and Susannah died and left all to their brother Wood it was hotly contested both times by Abner Watkins . The Watkins are directly related to my Mcgehee's in Pr Ed . Pat Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am a Tucker of this line. Wood Tucker is son of Joseph Tucker and Prudence Wood of first Amelia and then Pr Ed. Son Wood Tucker was deeded 200 acres of land in Pr Ed by his father in will June 1,1793WB 3-123. It was probated June 18,1798.The land was where his father lived. Wood has brothers and sisters, Joseph Jr ,Lucy Watkins,Rachel Wills,Susannah Tucker,Mary Tucker,Obedience Watkins Both Susannah and Mary died unmarried leaving wills and and both left their estates to brother Wood . In Wood Tuckers( b abt 1765 or before) his will dated July 8,1825 probated Ap 20 1835 his wife already dead and he left everything to his sisters and his brother Joseph and his nephew Owen H Tucker. He states absolutely that his dau Martha B is to get nothing. But there is no Ann listed in either his or his fathers will. Brother Joseph Jr had married Christiana Worsham. The above Watkins were both ministers. This is in my line and Henry Joseph Tucker who married Agnes McGehee dau of Jacob Mcgehee and Mildred Clark dau of Thomas Clark . Henry was Woods nephew and all the above are from Pr Ed. In the above will of Joseph Sr Tucker one of the executors was Daniel Ellington of Pr Ed who was brother in law to my Daniel Tucker .Both my Daniel Tucker and Daniel Ellington had moved after 1797 to Rockingham Co NC just over the line. Now it is odd that my grandfather was Joseph Lee McGehee son of John Mcgehee and his wife Florence Tucker. John is son of Milton Mcgehee of Pr Ed and Florence is dau of Paschal Tucker son of Daniel Tucker of Pr Ed. Why he was named Joseph lee we have no idea. Hope this helps. I have attached a photo of his name, written, in pencil, on a page in the book Caesar's Gallic War (Ginn & Company, 1906) The reason I ask is because I have just added this book to my collection and there are a page or two of notes written, again, in pencil, albeit not in the same hand that scribed the name Sterling Price, followed by Springville High School. Above those words, in what -may- be a third hand at work, is the name Ethel Jenkins. While the annotated, once blank pages, are partially legible to me I think I can decipher much more with a bit of concentrated effort, which I have only a minor interest in doing should this book not have been, at one time, in the possession of General Sterling Price. I was able to read a few words at the end of one page which, if I am correct, were: "unless equalizing the place an opportunity be given, he did not think to ask with the Lieutenant." It is tempting for me to conclude that the Lieutenant was a member of the General's Staff, however he could just as easily have been a member of Caesar's! Crib notes, as it were... by none other than Ethel Jenkins, as her 'penned' name bears -some- similarity to the pages of writing. I would sincerely appreciate any knowledgeable person replying with their thoughts... Thanks in advance!
