Surnames: Martin, Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/yBC.2ACI/538.1 Message Board Post: I am a descendant of Thomas Martin and Ann Moorman, the daughter of Charles Moorman and Elizabeth Reynolds. This Martin line is through my proven lineages of Moon, Roundtree, and Welborn Families, who came from Martinsville Virginia to North Carolina, and then settling in Piercetown (now Williamston), Pendleton district South Carolina in the late 1790s. In the HISTORIES OF ANDERSON COUNTY.. by Vandiver, it claims that Thomas Martin (the Grandson of Thomas Martin and Ann Moorman) and wife Hester Roundtree arrived with their children from Virginia to Piercetown in 1789, but my great uncle Gene Welborn, who is a noted author and genealogist, has published later findings to reveal through the North Carolina births of the elder children that these Martins that they did not arrive in the Pendleton until the late 1790s. Both of these sources go on further to write that Jacob Martin, the eldest son of Thomas Martin and Hester Roundtree, married Cathrine Martin, his first cousin from Edgefiled , the daughter of William Martin and Margaret Rowan. (My 3rd great grandmother is Mary "Polly" Martin m. Thomas Welborn, the sister of Jacob.)_ Within my own research, the parents of Thomas and William Martin are Charles Martin and Martha "Patsy" Moon. Charles Martin was born 1745 Albemarle County Virginia and died 1808 Abbeville District South Carolina. Charles Martin (1745-1808) is the son of Thomas Martin (1714-1792) and Ann Moorman . My studies show Thomas Martin (1714-1792) is the son of John Martin, Sr, (1683-1736) and Leticia Lewis.I also have John Martin, Jr,(b.1710) as their son m. Mary Unknown m2. Mary Scott m3. Ann Farish. I am seeking information on the son of John Martin and Annie Thompson, Phares Carter Martin. I believe that Euseba? Martin, the daughter of Phares and (one of his four wives) to be Adaline Martin Walker (abt 1830 to 1876) who was the wife of Burton Chesley Walker (1823 to 1880) of both Abbeville and Edgefield South Carolina.Adaline Martin Walker is also my 3rd great grandmother through another unrelated Welborn line. Any info on this is greatly appreciated. Please e-mail me at cobesmom@yahoo.com. Its sounds like we might both be able to help each other.

The marriage occurred some time between 1821 (when William's will was written) and 1827 (when the estate accounts were finally settled. Martha's sister Polly Lee Dabbs apparently married a Thackston as well. See below. At the time the will was written, Martha was married to a Hungerford. But by 1827, she had been married to a Morton (had a son named William L. Morton), and then remarried to John Thackston. Martha's siblings were: Abner Dabbs (also in Pr. Edward Co. by 1830!) Nancy Dabbs Lewis (husb. Corbin Lewis) Elizabeth Dabbs Johns (husb. John C. 1. [VAPRINCE] LEWIS and GREEN surnames in 1700's in Prince George County
    2. Donna Edgar
    3. I would like to hear from anyone who is researching Lewises and/or Green family names in this area. My ancestor, Edmond Lewis, was in Caswell (later Persons) CO, NC in the late 1770's until his death in 1792. I have only two clues about his background information -- (1) he named his children "Warner Hall Lewis" names (Hiram, Ware, Warner, Elizabeth, Francis, Fielding and Burwell/Burrell Green) (2) Michael Cook's PLF says about Edmond Lewis and his offspring, "There is a strong suspicion that this Edmond Lewis is related to Group 9 {Warner Hall Lewises}, perhaps through 9L093. This last reference of course leads on to Thomas and Agnes Lewis and the fact that her will (recorded in Prince George CO, VA) was witnessed by a Francis Burwell Green as well as by Ann Green Tucker." Does anyone have Thomas and Agnes Lewis documented in their research, or Francis Burwell Green and/or Ann Green Tucker? Also, would someone knowledgeable about VA resources be kind enough to tell me how I might obtain a copy of Agnes Lewis' will? Feel free to reply directly to me if you wish.

Surnames: McKINNEY, CROW, COLLINS, MEASON, MASON, CHILES Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/yBC.2ACI/115.120 Message Board Post: Hello Laurence, I have been researching the McKinney line since 1996, and I am currently looking for information on: C. P. (Charles Peyton) McKinney - It is believed that Charles was born abt. Jun 1855 in Russell County, KY, but I have not been able to confirm it. Per the census information, C. P. claimed that his father was born in Virginia, and his mother in Kentucky, but it hasn't been confirmed yet. I know nothing of C. P.’s parents or siblings. We do know that C. P. was married to Martha Jane Crow (m: 26 Aug 1880) and to Olivia Meason or Mason (m: 25 Dec 1883). Martha (b: abt 1848, d: abt 1881) was married prior to Hiram Collins (m: 1866), and apparently died shortly after the birth of her son George Akers McKinney; Olivia (b: 1845, d: 1922) was married at least once prior to Napoleon B. Crow (m: 24 Dec 1863). Olivia may have been called "Ellen", but this has not been confirmed. Her surname may have been spelled "Mason". Olivia's parents were: William Hightower MEASON b. 1811 in Nelson County KY. William was married to Jane HAY sometime in 1840 in Clark County, MO. Two conflicting dates are 27 Aug 1840 and 03 Oct 1840. Jane was born about 1821-1824 in VA, d. about 1852. William and Jane had 5 known children: 1) Agnes MEASON b. 1842 in MO 2) Albert MEASON b. 1843 in MO 3) Olivia MEASON b. 26 JUN 1845 in Monroe County, MO, d. 1922 4) Charles MEASON b. 1847 in MO 5) Taylor MEASON b. 1849 in MO These families had some strong Virginia connections. Any information that can be provided regarding the McKINNEY, CROW and/or MEASON family(ies) would be great. I have more family information on my homepage located at http://www.tribalpages.com/tribes/styxmark.
