Joshua Blanton was one of Briery's 72 original subscribers, but he was not listed as a church member. No Blantons are listed in the inventory of the Briery Church cemetery posted on the South Central Virginia Genealogical Society website.

Joshua Blanton married the two daughters of John Alderman, Sr and Mary Cashwell. Joshua first married Mary in 1787, and fathered 8 children. It is ordered recorded 19 Feb 1776. Then at another court 17 June 1793 Frederick's wife Rachel was examined concerning relinquishing her dower right to the land. Why was this done so long after the original sale? Hope someone can answer this question.

    3. David Blanton- I think you are right in regards to the son's of Thomas Jr and Ann. With my research, I think my ancestors may go back to Thomas Jr, one of the sons of Thomas Blanton, SR and Jane Mcguffey. Did you know that Thomas Blanton, Sr was our first Blanton ancestor to come to Virginia, in 1682 from England? He had several Land Grants in Old Rappahanock County, Va. That original county has been divided several times now into other counties. He married Jane McGuffey here in Va. She had previously been married several times before.
