According to archives at the state library NC didn't use birth certificates until 1913. My grandmother died when my mother was 3 and she was raised mostly by my great grandmother. While she had some contact with her father. she doesn't remember much except her father was somewhat elusive when questioned about his family and age. She thinks he had siblings in the Danville area named Delmus, Blondell, Vera and Mary Lee who married a Sossoman(sp?). Is this familiar to anyone?
