Will of William Robertson Pittsylvania County, VA D & W Book, page 539 In the name of God Amen, I William Robertson of the County of Pittsylvania, knowing the mortality of my body, that it is appointed for all men to die, although in imperfect health, do make my last will in manner following, that is, in the First place, I give and bequeath to my grandson Christopher Organ, his heirs and assigns forever, my negro boy Bonaparte. Secondly, I give and bequeath to my daughter Dicey Organ my negro man Tom to her and her heirs forever, also I give to my said daughter Dicey Organ and her heirs forever my negroes Chany, Mickey, and Thompson. Also I give one hundred dollars to be equally divided between all the daughters of my said daughter Dicey Organ. Thirdly, I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Bottom my negro woman Milly and all the children of Milly my said daughter is possessed of and also the boy in my said daughter Elizabeth Bottom's possession named Billy, also my negro boy Thompson now in my possession to her and her heirs forever. Fourthly, I give and bequeath to my son Christopher's children, that is William, Joseph, Ennis, Peter, Henry and Polly, and also to my son Henry's children Polly and Henry, my following negroes and other property towit, Crusoe and Poll (my blacksmiths), Rachel, George, Dick, John, Milly, Carson, Edy, Nat, Lucy, Washington, Booker, Austin, Amy, Banks and Richmond, to them my aforesaid grandchildren to be equally divided among them and their heirs forever, also it is my further desire that all my land and all other property of whatsoever kind and money if any, shall be equally divided among my last mentioned aforesaid grandchildren to them and their heirs forever. It is also my desire that my Estate shall be kept together after my death and all the profits over supporting the said grandchildren that is the children of my said son Christopher and Henry, before last mentioned and the negroes to be equally divided among the said grandchildren. It is also my will and desire that my two blacksmiths shall be hired convenient to their wives. It is my ardent wish and desire that my negroes shall ever be treated with the utmost humanity. It is my will and desire that my friends George Giles and Rawley W. Carter shall be Executors of my last will and testament hereby revoking all other wills of a prior date. So our Elizabeth Robinson/Robertson who married Anthony P. Lipford was not a daughter of this William Robertson. She was actually the sister of this William Robertson who wrote the will. Anthony P. Lipford was appointed guardian to William's grandson William. So that grandson would have been Elizabeth's grand-nephew. In November 1823, Mourning Frances Towler Robertson was appointed guardian of all her children except William, the eldest, recorded in Pittsylvania County Court Order Book 24, page 170.
