Last week someone was asking about Alexander Ferguson. Looking through my files I found the following I copied from a Book called Franklin County Pioneers: "The first person of the name in Franklin County was Alexander Ferguson (1740-1817), who m. Mary, dau. of Capt. Thos. P{arker. His name first appears on a return dated Fort Pitt, March 17, 1778. It lasts appears on a muster roll dated Fort Pitt, April 5, 1778. Bedford County records show he wasliving there April 22,1782. Wjem Franklin was formed, his home was cut off in the new county. He supplied beef for soldiers of the Revolution. Alexander Ferguosn had sisters, Elizabeth, Margaret and Mildred. He mentions nine children in his will. I found a copy of the will that mentions the following: My dear wife Mary Ferguson, my son Thomas Ferguson, my son Noah Ferguson, my son Eli and Daniel Ferguson ( apparently twins), my son Stephen, my Daugher Elizabeth Smith, my daughter Mary Board's children, daughter Martha Donaho and Susanna Short. Alexander Jr. is not mentioned but the Franklin County Pioneers said he was born 1765 and married Nancy Wood, children Thomas, (married Elizabeth Catherine Beaumont) dau. Mary who m. Anthony Simmon. An Old Bible at Redwood names other children of Alexander Ju. as Daniel, James, Thaddeus and Stephen. I guess this isn't the right family for Beverly's Elizabeth and Mary. JoAnn
