Circa 1789, widow Proctor and two small children (Richard about 2 years old and Benjamin apprx. 1yr.) along with Mrs. Proctor's sister (Sally Statia) left Pittsylvania County,Virginia, and traveled to Lincoln County, NC. I am trying to find out who was the father of these two small children. Marriage records from Pittsylvania Co. show a Richard Proctor marring a Winifred Short on 12 March 1793. Could this be the father? Other Pittsylvania Co. records show that a Richard Proctor's will was probated in Book 5 (1812-1817).
