As you know, Patrick was part of Pittsylvania County until 1777 when Henry County was formed. There are many of you whose families qualify for this book. May 20, 2005 is the deadline. Here are our guidelines: Pioneer Story: If you had an ancestor in Patrick County before 1840, you can have a 500 word story and 1 picture free. Family Story: If are a descendant of a Patrick Countian, currently live in Patrick County, are a past resident of Patrick County, was born and raised in Patrick County, you qualify for a free 500 word story and 1 picture free. Veterans: Anyone who is a veteran or whose ancestor was a Veteran, may submit a free 100 word story and 1 picture. Topical Stories: Churches 100+ years of age: 500 words and 1 picture free Churches less than 100 years of age, and all other topical stories (schools, organizations, governmental officials, weather, folklore, recipes, mills, businesses no longer in business, etc.) - 250 words and 1 picture free Picture Collage: We will accept loose pictures for the picture collage at the end of the book. They must be labeled on the back with your name, and complete mailing address. Do not send us your originals. Stories must be typed, doublespaced. We plan to have the brochures out in February if not sooner. You can mail your stories to Patrick County Heritage Book, P.O. Box 1016, Stuart, VA 24171. Sorry, we do not accept stories via e-mail.
