Her father was Eugene Lavasa Payne. He died when she was a child, and not much is known about his family other than his father was Ray H. Payne and his mother was Ethel Trumann, who remarried a Krug. He had a sister, Betty Gene Payne. Eugene was born in Illinois and Betty was born in Indiana. And for a time we believe they went by the last name Pierce. We also believe that Ray was from Kentucky. But I cannot confirm that this is THE Raymond Harrison Payne. I had seen one of your posts and it contained the name Eugene Lavassha, and it cannot be a coincidence, can it? I have hit brick wall after brick wall, and the little help I have managed to find only goes so far. I have a little more info, dates and such, if this is familiar at all.
