I have the marriage certificate from my Grandmother. She too was deserted with two small children one of which was my mother, Mary Mays Hyler. Her brother, Joseph was struck and killed by a lightening bolt when he was only 12. My Grandmother tried to find Mr. Mays but he dropped from the face of the earth.
