Hello, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !!! I was wondering if there were any Creasy Family Researchers out there, that would be connected to the Creasy Family of the Town of Gretna Va, Which at one time was called Elba, and I believe at one time called The Junction or a Train Stop was called the Junction. I visited the old Creasy Home this past weekend, and got some pictures of the Home and Cemetery with shots of Thomas C Creasy's headstone, and a couple others. In 1881 Thomas C Creasy purchased some land to build the Market Place from Jeremiah Talbot, which I think is the land the shopping center sets on at the intersection of 40 and main Street in Gretna, Thomas C Creasy had to go to court and fight to be able to build his building because of an earlier provision in the original land deed between Talbot and Hunt Tardy, that No more land could be sold by Talbot for mercantile business, The deed to Creasy from Talbot took cognizance of this provision, ("When Creasy began work on his building, Tardy institued court proceedings; The court ruled in favor of Creasy, had the court ruled in Tardy's favor Gretna would probably not be here today") The last statement is from a quote from the internet from The History of Pittsylvania County from Rootsweb.com/Va/Pittsylvania/County. I will share the pictures if anyone from the Creasy Family would like them. The photos are mine, I took them myself while touring the Creasy Family Home now called the Lafayette House, I may have this name miss spelled. I am also interested in anyone with knowledge to all the old homes and historical sites in the Gretna Chatham and surrounding area, that could guide me for a picture taking day. I just want to go and take pictures of all the historical sites around the area, I live just outside of Gretna and would drive if anyone wants to either give me directions or spend the day driving and taking pictures. Thanks for your time,Just give me a holler if you want copies of the pictures mentioned in this email. I will send as attachments. Bye 4 now, have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! Jerry
