    3. Hello list, I would like to add a quick note to my lat post searching for Af. Am. Roberts. A relative says they may not have been after all. "Free Person of Color" was their designation in Ohio, and their physical descriptions are "light complexion" and "bright complexion", which I now know could mean several different races...Indian, Portuguese, Black/White, Indian/White, ect....no matter which, I am still looking to connect with anyone researching the same.     3. As you will know by my previous response, their being freed from slavery by the will of John Lynch establishes their status as Afro-Amer., but their descriptions indicate mixed blood. Further background might be found in tracing any purchases that Ward may have made from a Roberts in Pittsylvania or Campbell Co (where Ward also had holdings.
