He died about 1839 leaving it to his wife and children. Sons Matthew Williams and some daughters survived. A granddaughter named Sarah Marr survived as well as the his 3 grandsons William, David T. and Samuel Carter Williams whose father Thomas Terry Williams b. 1799 was killed by a slave circa 4-13-1835. Am searching for any written documentation concerning the death of Thomas Terry Wiiliams as well as any information regarding his widow, Elizabeth Mary Carter. She and her sons may have lived , during the mid-late 1830's with her family at Carter's Tavern on Brooklyn Rd. in Halifax Co. approximately 2.5 miles east of the county line. Also would like any information regarding Captain Samuel Carter Williams, his son born 1832. He was a nephew of James Mastin Williams who was prominent in Danville's early history. SCW was a clerk in a mercantile business and a member of the Roman Eagle Lodge in Danville. During the 1850's he owned a 998 acre plantation with 14 slaves on present day Melon Road near Paces VA a short distance east of the Pittsylvania Co. line. SCW was KIA at the Battle of Payne's Farm in Orange Co, VA 11-27-1863. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
