Hi, I am wanting to know if anyone would have information on the Indian presence here in Gretna Va, Pittsylvania County, back in the 1700's- 1800's, I have been finding Arrow heads down in the creek,"FRYINGPAN CREEK" and have also heard and seen many folks that find arrowheads here in Gretna and all over Danville and areas between Danville and Lynchburg, I live on Fryingpan Creek, and my son and I love to go to the creek on hot days, and collect rocks out of the creek,There are sections of the creek that have rock beds, and there is this shiny Mica looking stuff, that the kids were intrigued over, so that is what started us in panning the creek,We have found lots of stones that have shapes of arrowheads, grinding stones , stuff that has marks of being sculpted, Like "chipped away at" Not sure how to explain it. I wanted to know, What tribe would have been in this area? It is very exciting to me ,A city boy, Finding stuff like this. I heard that a lot of farmers when they plow up new ground , find lots of things in the plowed up dirt, I think there has been many ,many arrowheads found in this area, Can anyone help me with the Native Indian Population in Gretna Area. Thanks for your time. Jerry Tuttle
